A banquet was also held at the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos marking the 75th anniversary of National Day of Vietnam (September 2) and the country's diplomatic sector.
In Vientiane, the ceremony was attended by Lao Deputy Prime Minister Bounthong Chithmany, guests who are members of parliament, diplomats and governmental officials from the host country.
Attending the event, Chithmany praised Vietnam for obtaining new, great achievements in various areas, becoming one of the fastest growing economies in ASEAN and the Asian region. These attainments have greatly contributed to continously raising the country's role, position and prestige in the regional and international forums, he said.
He expressed his belief that Vietnam, as ASEAN Chair 2020, will continue making important contributions, together with other member nations, to building ASEAN into a strong and united bloc, for peace and common interests of the region and the world.

A banquet was also held at the Vietnamese Embassy in France on the same day on the occasion.
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Thiep affirmed that Vietnam will continue grasping opportunities and overcoming challenges amid uncertain developments in the region and the world at present, especially the COVID-19 pandemic, so as to further deepen its strategic partnership with France.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam’s economic growth neared 2 percent in the first half of 2020 while trade surplus reached around USD 11 billion. According to the Economist’s financial health rankings in May, Vietnam ranked 12th out of 66 emerging economies in terms of strong financial system.
He added that since the beginning of this year, the embassy has studied and collected documents about President Ho Chi Minh’s France visit in 1946 as the first head of state of an independent Vietnam to sign the modus vivendi agreement on September 14.

Speaking at a cultural exchange in Venezuela, Ambassador Le Viet Duyen recalled achievements of Vietnam after the 35-year renewal, with an average annual economic growth rate of nearly 7 percent – among the highest in the region and the world.
Over the past 75 years, Vietnam has reaped a range of important achievements with high economic growth, improved living conditions of people, maintained socio-political stability, ensured defense and security, expanded external relations, active and responsible contributions to peace and cooperation in the region and the world.
The country has also achieved remarkable results in external affairs when it consistently pursues the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, and multilateralisation of international relations.
The 75th anniversary of National Day of Vietnam also is concurrent with its ASEAN Chairmanship Year and non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure, proving its increasingly strong presence in the international arena.
Regarding Vietnam - Venezuela relations, Duyen affirmed that the Government and people always attach importance to friendship and solidarity with Venezuela.
Vietnam is willing to support the Venezuelan Government and people in the struggle to protect independence and sovereignty for the development of the nation and the prosperity of the people, he added.
Just a few days ago, the Embassy of Vietnam in Venezuela handed over medical equipment to the host country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with 20,000 face masks from the Vietnamese National Assembly to help Venezuela deal with the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The ceremony followed by art performances by both Vietnamese and Venezuelan artists. The program was broadcast on Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Venezuelan Military TV channel (TVFANB), and Venezuelan National Assembly TV channel (ANTV).
In the framework of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Vietnam National Day, Ambassador Le Viet Duyen granted interviews to VTV8 channel of Venezolana de Televisión, introducing Vietnam’s culture, cuisine, and tourism.
Also, the Embassy cooperated with VTV8 and TVFANB to organize the release of "Vietnam Film Month" nationwide, starting from August 19 to September 2 to promote Vietnamese culture and people to Venezuelan friends. Films to be released included Story of Pao, The Buffalo Boy, Deserted Valley, and The Moon at the Bottom of the Well.
