This is the first time Vietnamese audiences have been able to see the world of the Dutch artist. The exhibition allows people to fully immerse in a 7-minute video sketch of Van Gogh’s life.

Covering an area of 3,800 square meters, the exhibition is divided into 16 sections, including “Interactive Corridor”, “Vincent’s Land”, and “Vincent’s Field”.

Thanks to a series of the world’s most modern technologies and a huge amount of equipment used at the Van Gogh Art Lighting Experience exhibition, the Vietnamese public can “enter” the famous paintings, recreating hundreds of classic works by the artist through digital projection screens and virtual reality technology.

Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, said the exhibition is an intriguing destination in a series of events of the city’s third Tourism Week, helping stimulate travel demand of both domestic and foreign visitors.

Nguyen Dinh Thuy Dung - Director of 'Van Gogh Vietnam' - said it took her and her team 7 years to bring the exhibition to Vietnam, cited Vietnamnet. According to her, the three most difficult things when implementing a project are copyright, technology, and the investor.

Previously, some online information argued that the project was not the same organizer as the Van Gogh Alive Immersive Show in Thailand or Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience in Singapore. Therefore, comparisons and prejudices about the quality of the exhibition were also discussed.

In respo, Dung said that this is a unique project, not just a "franchise" exhibition. She and her company bought the copyright directly and performed it, so there is no overlap with any version. This also denies information about the exhibition in Vietnam being fake or plagiarized like some previous rumors.

The crew worked with Vioso - a globally famous mapping name, from Germany. Previously, Vioso was present in more than 100 countries such as France, America, Italy, Japan, and Korea, with thousands of wonderful performances, attracting global tourists.

During the exhibition, this engineer mobilized 90 industrial projector devices to ensure the most vivid and sharpest image experience. This is an unprecedented number in the world for a corresponding exhibition area.

Further into the exhibition room is a fascinating replica of Van Gogh’s bedroom in Arles, France, taking audiences to the artist’s natural world. As visitors go through discoveries about Van Gogh, they are led into The Immersive Room, a remarkable and genuinely immersive space depicting a 40-minute digital projection mapping showcase of Van Gogh’s most famous artworks.

The projections shows the development and transformation of Van Gogh’s art style, such as his evolving interpretations of sunflowers, a subject matter he was known to continuously return to.

At the end of the experience, visitors can choose Sketch & Post, a complimentary fringe activity to put pen to paper their art piece and have it scanned onto a live screen, or experience “A Day in the Life of the Artist in Arles,” a 10-minute VR journey of Van Gogh’s artworks. Some artworks they can get close to include Vincent's Bedroom in Arles, Starry Night, Wheatfield With Crows, and Starry Night Over The Rhône.
