Speaking at the meeting in the capital, Port of Spain, Ambassador Vu Trung My expressed his appreciation for the active participation of overseas Vietnamese in the event organized by the Embassy in celebration of the upcoming traditional Tet. He affirmed that this participation demonstrates how Vietnamese people, no matter where they are, always uphold the nation’s rich cultural traditions.
In the warm atmosphere, Ambassador Vu Trung My reflected on the country's socio-economic and foreign affairs achievements, highlighting the progress in the Vietnam - Trinidad and Tobago relationship. He emphasized the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on February 1, 2023, as a significant milestone that marks the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral relations.

Affirming that the Party and State of Vietnam always consider the Vietnamese community abroad an inseparable part of the national family, Ambassador Vu Trung My highlighted the continuous attention given to the Vietnamese community in Trinidad and Tobago by the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.
He mentioned that the Embassy has assigned specialized staff for community work and citizen protection to support and protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens. Additionally, the Embassy has actively coordinated with Trinidad and Tobago authorities to aid the Vietnamese community in integrating, completing immigration procedures, complying with local laws, finding employment, and developing the economy.
On behalf of the Vietnamese community in Trinidad and Tobago, Tran Xuan Luong expressed his gratitude and emotion upon welcoming the delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy for the first time, especially just before the traditional Lunar New Year. He noted that there are currently about 30 Vietnamese people living in the host country, most of whom are engaged in small businesses such as running small-scale restaurants and grocery stores.
Despite the many challenges they face, the community always upholds the national spirit, solidarity, and mutual assistance. They continually turn to their homeland, preserve their national identity and traditions, and trust in the country's development policies under the leadership of the Party and State.

Doan Tien Dien, who has lived in Trinidad and Tobago for over 10 years, emphasized that the event organized by the Vietnamese Embassy serves as a significant source of encouragement for Vietnamese people living far from their homeland, especially with the upcoming Lunar New Year.
On the occasion of the forthcoming Lunar New Year of the Snake, Ambassador Vu Trung My extended his best New Year wishes to the Vietnamese community in Trinidad and Tobago. He also sent Tet gift packages to the community, which included products with a distinct Vietnamese flavor such as candied fruits, tea, lotus seeds, and publications about Vietnam.
