Ambassador Antonio Alessandro is interested in the agricultural and wood processing sectors of Bac Giang province.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Antonio Alessandro said: “The relationship between Italy and Vietnam is rooted in the friendship between the two countries. Italy is a developed industrialized country in the G7 group. We are interested in further promoting the quality of cooperation in economics, trade, investment and science. When he first came to Bac Giang, Antonio Alessandro was interested in the province's two strengths: agricultural production and wood processing. In these two areas, Italy is proud to be at the top of the world. It is a country that regularly organizes international fairs and exhibitions related to modern machinery systems for wood processing and wood furniture products.

The ambassador said he hoped that Italian businesses would approach the agencies of Bac Giang province for cooperation. The two sides can organize a workshop for Italy to share experiences in bringing agricultural products, wood products and brands to the market. In addition to modern machinery and technology, Italy also transfers experience to various products.

Le Anh Duong said: "The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has opened up a lot of opportunities for businesses of the two countries, including Bac Giang province."

Bac Giang is a destination chosen by many domestic and foreign investors. Besides the advantage of geographical location, the province's attractiveness also comes from open and favorable investment policies; determination to reform administration, as well as improve the investment and business environment.

Bac Giang has the largest lychee area in Vietnam, has exported hundreds of thousands of tons to more than 30 countries. Bac Giang, wishes to have the technology to export fresh litchi (freezing system of agricultural products), and considers Italy as a door to export to the European market.

The province will assign the Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to work with organizations and businesses with experience in processing Italian agricultural products to strengthen cooperation.

Although Bac Giang is strong in attracting foreign investment, there are currently no Italian investors in the province. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hoped that the ambassador would introduce investors to Bac Giang.

Therefore, Bac Giang will work with the Italian Embassy to organize cultural exchanges, tourism and sports activities, contributing to widely introducing Bac Giang's culture, thereby increasing understanding, friendship as well a favorable cooperation environment between the two sides.
