CAAV requested the Ministry of Transport to report to the Government to allow the implementation of the vaccine passport mechanism to resume the international flights, Vnexpress reported.
"The aviation industry has encountered many difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The reopening of the commercial flights is urgent. Allowing passengers with the vaccine passport and negative testing results to enter the country is an effective solution”, CAAC representative said.
The vaccine passport is a record of personal data, including documents and certificates proving a person got vaccinated or tested negative for the virus, determined on a digital basis. Apart from being able to enter countries, this data can be used when going to work, to restaurants or shopping domestically.
According to CAAV, the vaccine passport’s e-data is expected to minimize the counterfeiting of testing certificates which occurred in some nations such as Brazil and Bangladesh. The authorities can quickly search and retrieve information through the QR codes, thereby ensuring information security for passengers.
Many countries in the world have applied vaccine passports, for instance, China has granted hard and electronic ones. This passport can scan QR that shows the name, passport number, testing result, vaccine type, and hospital where passengers inoculated. Hungary has granted vaccine passports for those who recovered or were administered two vaccine shots.
Israel has adopted the vaccine passport since February 21. Vaccine recipients can download an app that displays their "green card" when being asked to furnish. The app also shows the information that patients recovered from Covid-19. Greece and Syprus Island will permit visitors with Green pass certificates to enter without being quarantined.
Syprus Island will also allow British tourists who received two vaccine jabs to enter the country starting May 1 without having to provide negative testing results or being quarantined.
Vietnam has not yet brought in the legal regulations on vaccine passports. There still haven’t been agreements at the government, inter-ministerial level, and countries to apply to international visitors.
In mid-March, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested relevant agencies to consider "appropriate anti-pandemic prevention measures" as the country adopts an official policy for Covid-19 vaccine passport holders.
At the meeting of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control later, the ministries, departments, and major telecom providers said that the technical infrastructure system related to "vaccine passport" for foreigners would be finalized and deployed from April.
Vietnam has suspended all inbound international commercial flights since March 2020, though the government has been allowing repatriation flights and special flights to bring foreign experts and investors to the country.
