(VNF) - "Canon - Cultivating future talents 2015” scholarships have been awarded to 25 Vietnamese pupils and students in a ceremony held in Hanoi on October 12th.

After finalizing list of candidates, representatives from the HCM CYU, Ministry of Education and Training and CVN made fact-finding trips to Me Linh district (Hanoi), Hung Yen, Kien Giang provinces and Da Nang city, in which the selected students live in order to have a clear view of their family condition, then encourage them on their studying.

The organizing board has selected 12 pupils and 13 students from the provinces/cities of Bac Giang, Thanh Hoa, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Da Nang, Ha Tinh, Kien Giang, Quang Nam, Dak Lak, Lang Son, Phu Tho, Quang Ngai, Nam Dinh, Bac Ninh, Thua Thien-Hue, Gia Lai, Nghe An, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Soc Trang and Long An, who met almost given criteria.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Katsuyoshi Soma - CVN General Director said: “Through this scholarship project, Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd expresses our special concern about current education and training situation in the nation. By supporting Vietnamese students who have poor living conditions but excellent academic results, they are now able to overcome their challenges in life, concentrate on studying then achieve their dreams as well as build up a beautiful world”.

The scholarships are part of a larger VND4.8 billion scholarship program (between 2014-2020 period) for 90 outstanding high school students and 150 university students nationwide. Each scholarship for high school and university students is worth VND16.2 million (VND1.8 million/month) and VND24 million (VND2.4 million/month) per year, respectively.

This year’s awardees will have chance to receive scholarships in the following years until they graduate from high school or university unless demonstrating their good records.

On this occasion, they visited the Hanoi-based Temple of Literature and a processing line of color laser printer at Canon’s factory in Thang Long industrial park./.
