The HUFO on September 30 organised a gathering to celebrate the 71st anniversary of China’s National Day (October 1).
The event, featuring performances by local students and musicians, gathered representatives from friendship organisations in the south, as well as Chinese businesses and expatriates in Ho Chi Minh City.
In his speech, Chairman of the city's Vietnam-China Friendship Association Duong Quan Ha highlighted the traditional friendship between the two nations, which has been treasured by generations of Vietnamese and Chinese leaders.
He said the exchange of visits by high-ranking officials of both nations has made significant contributions to elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new high.
Ha went on by saying the HUFO, the city's Vietnam-China Friendship Association, Chinese Consulate General, and Chinese business community have worked closely to promote mutual understanding between Ho Chi Minh City and Chinese localities, helping develop the friendship between the two nations.
In response, Chinese Deputy Consul General Hao Zhigang highlighted the sound traditional friendship between the two countries, adding that thanks to the leadership of the two Parties, coupled with joint efforts of the two peoples, the cooperative relations have been developed in a more practical and deeper manner across the fields of politics, economy and people diplomacy.
He thanked the HUFO and the city's Vietnam-China Friendship Association for supporting the Chinese Consulate General to promote the Vietnam - China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
The Chinese office stands ready to join hands with the HUFO to unceasingly develop the Vietnam – China partnership, he added.

On the same day, top Vietnamese leaders have sent congratulatory messages to their Chinese counterparts on the 71th National Day of China (October 1), VNA reported.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan respectively offered congratulations to General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Li Zhanshu.
In their messages, the Party and State leaders of Vietnam congratulated China on its achievements over the last 71 years, voicing their belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping being the core, the Chinese people will continue obtaining great accomplishments during the cause of reform, opening and socialism building with Chinese characteristics.
They affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people always attach importance to developing healthy and stable relations between the two countries, and that Vietnam is ready to join hands with China to enhance equal and mutually-beneficial cooperation, properly settle outstanding problems, promote the stable and sustainable development of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, thereby contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and development in the region and the world at large.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also extended greetings to Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi./.
