No fresh cases, 1 patient died after 4 times tested negative with SARS-CoV-2
On the morning news of August 19, The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Control and Prevention said no new cases had been reported. So far, Vietnam has 989 COVID-19 patients, 525 of which are successfully cured, while there are 26 fatal cases.
On the evening of August 18, the COVID-19 Special Standing Division of the Ministry of Health in Da Nang reported 1 patient died after 4 negative tests for coronavirus. This fatal case-patient no. 418 is a male, 61 years old, lives in Da Nang city. His medical history includes COVID-19, hypertension, chronic renal failure, type 2 diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The patient died from complications of chronic kidney failure at Hue Central Hospital 2.

There will be other COVID-19 outbreak in the community, said experts
At the meeting on August 18, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 and Control said that there might be more outbreaks in the community, asking localities to raise warning levels, and implement protective measures, especially in key locations such as hospitals, nursing homes, and support frontline anti-epidemic forces, cited by Tien Phong.
In the situation that many localities still show subjective and neglect attitude in pandemic prevention, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Long-acting Minister of Health suggested localities to raise their vigilance so that they can detect infections in the community early and promptly response to avoid any epidemic break.
According to experts, Vietnam may have more epidemics outbreaks in the community and they appear in many other provinces. Therefore, it is recommended that localities increase their vigilance against COVID-19.

Ho Chi Minh City: People coming from the province with Covid-19 outbreak must take medical reports
On the afternoon of August 18, Dr. Nguyen Tri Dung, Director of the Center for Disease Control in Ho Chi Minh City, said that besides Da Nang, there are now provinces with infections spreading in the community such as Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Hanoi, Hai Duong. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City will expand the subjects required to make medical declarations and take samples for testing Covid-19.
Currently, the Center for Disease Control in Ho Chi Minh City is developing a specific plan and will deploy it urgently for 24 districts to implement. Timeline for medical reporting will vary depending on the specific locality.
Also according to the Center for Disease Control in Ho Chi Minh City, from August 14 until now, there are still 882 people returning from Da Nang (from July 1 to 28) to make medical declarations. Previously, Ho Chi Minh City announced that it would receive medical reports until the end of August 14, and those who report late will be considered and fined.
