Face shields sent to the front line against pandemic made by a family of 3 generations

Nestled in a small alley located on Le Quoc Hung street, Ward 13, District 4, more than a week ago, Do Pham Nguyet Thanh's small house was always full of all members. From grandparents to descendants, this 3-generation family gathers together to make face shields.

Within just one week, more than 6,500 completed anti-droplet face shields have been sent to hospitals and medical facilities such as the Ho Chi Minh city Center for Disease Control, National Hospital Of Tropical Diseases, Le Van Thinh Hospital, and Blood Transfusion Hematology Hospital; pandemic "hot spots" in Ho Chi Minh city such as Go Vap district, Binh Thanh district.

Do Pham Nguyet Thanh, an expert from the Center for Biomedical Research - Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University, initiated this idea with her family. She said: "I am also a doctor involved in pandemic prevention, but because of the nature of my work, I am only at the center to test the samples brought back. I understand how contagious the pandemic is and how people are in need of personal protective equipment, especially those who are working in the "hot spots" of Go Vap. These face shields can help keep medics, doctors and volunteers safer."

Pham Thi Thom (Thanh's mother) said: "I am old, and my back hurts when I sit for a long time. However, I always encourage the whole family, each person contributes a little bit of strength, my family unites to make a lot of face shields to send to doctors."

By sharing and loving each other during the pandemic season, thousands of face shields have been completed and delivered to those on the front lines of the fight against the pandemic.

1,000 jars of sesame salt for doctors in Bac Giang

Nguyen Ngoc Anh (born in 1996, living in Thu Duc city), the leader of the Green Vietnam group in Ho Chi Minh city, is the one who came up with the idea of making sesame salt to support doctors and nurses who are fighting the pandemic in Bac Giang. The group agreed and decided to make 1,000 jars of sesame salt by themselves more than a week ago.

Anh said, as soon as she heard that Bac Giang had implemented social distancing, her group began to roast beans, grind sesame, and roast salt. The young people gathered at the spacious house rented by the young girl to carry out all the processes of making sesame salt.

“However, only 2 days later, the pandemic situation in Ho Chi Minh city was also complicated, we were not allowed to gather together to do it anymore, but had to separate into small groups such as: Packing group, roasting, grinding beans, sesame group. A few hundred jars of sesame salt have to be completed a day, so members often have to work day and night," Anh said.

To be able to complete 1,000 s of sesame salt and peanuts, Anh and her members called for people's support and many people agreed and participated. Anh said, in addition to her close customers, the teachers and people where she rented all contributed their efforts.

The young people all confirmed that they were very happy to participate in the campaign to make 1,000 jars of sesame salt to support doctors and nurses in Bac Giang. “When I think about the hardships of the doctors and nurses who are fighting the pandemic in Bac Giang, I see that my difficulties are nothing. I feel very happy, happy to forget all the fatigue," said Ngoc Thinh.

Meanwhile, young girl Pham Thi Hong Nhung (2000), the leader of the above sesame salt roasting group, said that this campaign has spread solidarity in the community.
