Da Nang 'Blue Shirt' Youth Support Needy People in Laos

Da Nang's 'blue shirt' doctors every day examine, distribute medicine and provide medical support to people, blue shirt soldiers go to remote areas, difficult areas to give gifts, support children and people in need in Salavane province of Laos.

Having just arrived in Salavane province of Laos, 36 volunteers of the International Volunteer Union of Da Nang Youth Union, have embarked on implementing activities to support needy people here.

During the 2023 Summer Volunteer Campaign , the international volunteer program of Da Nang Youth Union in Laos took place from July 15 to July 21. In particular, the main activity is free medical examination and medicine distribution to the people.

The blue shirt doctors of the team examined and distributed free medicine to about 2,000 people in Salavane province, mainly the elderly and children.

At the medical examination point, when they learned about the arrival of the Vietnamese volunteer delegation, large numbers of people were present at an earlier time to wait for their turn to be examined.

In order to make the visit convenient, Salavane Provincial Youth Union also supports local volunteers to translate and assist doctors and nurses in the process of get to know people's symptoms and medical history.

After examining and distributing medicine, the volunteers guide people about the time and dose of medicine to use according to the doctor's prescription.

In addition to medical examination, the volunteer group also organized gift giving programs, giving necessities to disadvantaged people, and new learning tools for local students. specifically, more than 200 people were handed over rice and necessities; 40 students were given new books and backpacks. The total funding of this volunteer program is more than VND 300 million (USD 12,600).

According to Cao Thi Minh Trang, the days in Laos for each member of the delegation are the most memorable memories. "Wearing the blue shirt of the Youth Union, Da Nang youth go to more remote and difficult places to help difficult situations, nothing can stop the enthusiasm and spirit of youth", Trang said.

According to Le Cong Hung, deputy secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union, head of the international volunteer delegation, this is an annual program in the summer volunteer campaign, bringing the youth and enthusiasm of Vietnamese youth in general and Da Nang youth in particular to the Lao people.

"Vietnam and Laos are two neighboring countries activities with a traditional friendship relationship that has always been preserved, nurtured and developed over the years. Joining hands to beautify that strong friendship, Da Nang youth always strives to have many quality and practical volunteer activities to provide resources to support the Lao people; contribute to fostering the Vietnam-Laos relationship and special friendship and solidarity," said Hung.
