Domestic Tourism Enjoys Successful Tet Holiday

SaPa, Da Lat, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Phu Quoc on Tet days were crowded with tourists. Statistics released by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism show that, in nine days, 35 leading tourist destinations nationwide welcomed about 6.2 million visitors.
The North is bustling to celebrate spring
A representative of the Hanoi Department of Tourism said that from January 31 to February 6, 2022, the capital welcomed more than 105 thousand visitors, despite the fact that some cultural sites in the area have to close due to Covid-19.
However, there were still a number of tourist attractions, museums, and parks that were open to attract domestic tourists. Ba Vi National Park (from January 31 to February 4) welcomed 13,000 visitors, Hanoi Zoo welcomed about 28,000 visitors. Bao Son Paradise Park had 15,000 visitors.

Quang Ninh province on the 1st and 2nd of the Lunar New Year welcomed over 40,000 tourists. In which, Yen Tu scenic spot welcomed 4,000 visitors, Cua Ong temple (Cam Pha) welcomed over 5,000 visitors. It is expected that Quang Ninh will welcome 200,000-250,000 visitors to tourist attractions in February, focusing on cultural, spiritual tourist attractions and Ha Long Bay.

Ha Giang is estimated to welcome 86,000 visitors during Tet. From the beginning of 2022 till now, Ha Giang has welcomed over 365,000 visitors.
Visitors to Central and Southern Vietnam
Many hotels in Da Nang and Khanh Hoa were fully booked for the first time after 2 years of Covid-19 pandemic. In Da Nang, the total number of tourists visiting and traveling is estimated at 35,939, up 16.7% compared to 2021, mainly domestic tourists.
During the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday (from January 29 to February 6), there were 404 flights bringing tourists to Da Nang. Meanwhile, the number of visitors to Khanh Hoa (from January 31 to February 4) also reached more than 65,000. Total number of guests staying increased by 241.7% over the same period in 2021.

Representatives of large enterprises in the city said that this is a good sign for the tourism industry. Travel agencies such as Vietravel, Saigontourist, TST touris all recorded a sharp increase in the number of group tours departing in February-March. Saigontourist is expected to serve more than 150 MICE delegations in the first and second quarters, including a record 2,200 delegation to Long Hai.
Meanwhile, Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) was the hottest destination recently. A representative of Phu Quoc International Airport said that during the Lunar New Year holiday, the "pearl island" welcomed 368 flights. On the 2nd and 3rd, there were about 60 flights per day. In only the first 3 days of the new year, about 80,000 visitors came to Kien Giang.
It is expected that this February, Phu Quoc will continue to accelerate to receive more international flights from Dubai, Singapore, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan with an average of 170-200 passengers/flight.
With those positive signals, right at the first meeting of the Standing Committee on February 3 (the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked to prepare to "open the door for safe tourism as soon as possible, at the latest on April 30 and May 1."

The Prime Minister also said that once the policy has been issued, it must be strictly, and consistently implemented nationwide, "there is no reason for localities to issue regulations contrary to general regulations."
This shows that the "safe adaptation, flexibility, effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic" in tourism activities has been well done; normal life gradually returns, Covid-19 is no longer a huge obstacle allow tourism to recover.
