	Elderly Vietnamese Couple Makes a "Second Home" for Vietnamese Students in France

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Le Thi Thu Hang, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang, Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Education Publishing House Pham Vinh Thai, overseas Vietnamese in France, including Vietnamese language teachers and children.

At the beginning of the event, all attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her delight about the positive response and large attendance of the overseas Vietnamese community in France. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Vietnamese language is not only the soul of the nation but also a method to maintain emotional ties and connections with family, homeland, and country.

She proudly noted that the Vietnamese language has been increasingly enriched through the community's classes in France over many generations.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang also shared touching stories about the "teachers" who teach Vietnamese to second, third, and fourth-generation children under difficult conditions in many places around the world.

The ceremony not only aims to honor the Vietnamese language but also to thank organizations, teachers, parents, and students whose dedication and love for the Vietnamese language and culture have helped the language to spread widely, shared her.

According to Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang, the event to honor the Vietnamese language and inaugurate the Vietnamese bookcase to serve the Vietnamese community in France is significant in maintaining and developing the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese within the Vietnamese community in France.

The Ambassador affirmed that supporting, and encouraging the community to maintain cultural identity and preserve the Vietnamese language is one of the Vietnamese Embassy in France's key tasks.

He hopes that the Vietnamese community in France, with pride in being one of the first overseas communities founded by President Ho Chi Minh, will continue to promote the teaching and learning of Vietnamese.

The diplomat also believes that the diverse activities of the project "Honoring the Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community" will be actively implemented by functional agencies both domestically and abroad, contributing significantly to promoting the teaching and learning of Vietnamese overseas.

The Vietnamese bookcase was inaugurated to serve the community in France.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Pham Vinh Thai, Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Education Publishing House thanked the efforts of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs in promoting the teaching and learning of Vietnamese in the overseas Vietnamese community.

He affirmed that the Vietnam Education Publishing House would continue to collaborate with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs to provide Vietnamese books; and collaborate with the overseas Vietnamese community in researching and compiling Vietnamese language textbooks that are suitable for the language and characteristics of the local community.

In addition, the Vietnam Education Publishing House would cooperate with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs to expand the model of Vietnamese language training classes for overseas Vietnamese.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang, Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Education Publishing House Pham Vinh Thai, and other delegates inaugurated the Vietnamese bookcase and presented seven commemorative medals and gifts to groups, teachers, and students with outstanding achievements in teaching and learning Vietnamese in France.

The organization of the ceremony to honor the Vietnamese language and the inauguration of the Vietnamese bookcase is part of the project “Honoring the Vietnamese Language in the Overseas Vietnamese Community for the 2023-2030 period”, issued by the Vietnamese Prime Minister in 2022.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang also held a formal meeting with leaders and representatives of various Vietnamese associations in France. The associations present included the Vietnamese Association in France, the AVSE Global - Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts, the Women's Science Association, the Love Vietnam's Seas and Islands Club, the Vietnamese Business Association in France, the Vietnam Innovation Network in Europe, and the Global Vietnamese Young Intellectuals Network.

The overseas Vietnamese community expressed their happiness in welcoming the Deputy Minister to France for the first time as the Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.

Representatives of the associations briefly reported on their activities, outlined their advantages and challenges, and made proposals and recommendations.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang commended the Vietnamese community in France for their solidarity, integration, and active efforts to preserve the Vietnamese language and cultural identity. She emphasized their numerous practical activities directed toward the homeland and their significant contributions to strengthening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and France.

The Deputy Minister also provided an update on the country's socio-economic situation, the 4th World Conference of Overseas Vietnamese, and the Forum of Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts 2024. She called upon the overseas Vietnamese community, particularly the younger generation, to contribute ideas and efforts towards the homeland's development.

On the same day, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang visited and held discussions with the Vietnamese Embassy in France. Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang noted that the Vietnamese community in France numbers over 300,000 people. Recently, the community has made significant efforts to connect associations, integrate into local society, contribute to the homeland, and actively promote cultural activities while preserving national identity in France.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang acknowledged the achievements of the Embassy and proposed that the Embassy continue working closely with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs to provide more practical support for the activities and initiatives of Vietnamese associations in France in the coming time.
