Hungary 1-1 France: World champions held in Budapest as Hungary keep Group F hopes alive

Tournament favorites France were held to a surprise 1-1 draw against Hungary in their second Euro 2020 Group F game in Budapest, according to Sky Sports.

France missed two big chances to take the lead through Kylian Mbappe's header and Karim Benzema's sliced effort wide, but Hungary stunned the world champions through Attila Fiola's finish having been put through on goal (45+2), sending the home crowd into raptures.

In a cauldron atmosphere in Budapest, France leveled on 66 minutes through Antoine Griezmann, finishing up at close range after Mbappe had held up Hugo Lloris' long kick upfield.

They could not grab a winner, and the result means France have four points after two games, which should be enough to make the last 16 as they finish their group stage against Portugal on Wednesday, while Hungary, on one point, must beat Germany in their final game in Munich.

Portugal 2-4 Germany: Slick Germans stun holders

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring but from then on it was pretty much one-way traffic as Germany, inspired by Robin Gosens, stunned the holders, UEFA reported.

Germany recovered from a goal down to lay down a real marker at UEFA EURO 2020, putting four past holders Portugal to leave Group F on a knife-edge going into Wednesday's section finale.

Germany went on the attack from the off in Munich, thriving on the vibrancy offered by their wing-backs. The man on the left, Robin Gosens, even found the net but his well-taken finish was ruled out for offside. Back they came, wave after wave, but Portugal repelled them before the sucker punch: Cristiano Ronaldo starting and finishing a thrilling counterattack.

The pressure told with two own goals in the space of five minutes late in the first half, with Rúben Dias and Raphaël Guerreiro inadvertently beating Rui Patrício. Portugal were stunned, unable to muster a response; and it got a lot worse before it got better.

By the hour mark it was 4-1 and the holders were out on their feet. Kai Havertz tapped in before the brilliant Gosens headed in a cross from Joshua Kimmich. Joachim Löw rang the changes, with half an eye on Wednesday, and Portugal improved, pulling one back through Diogo Jota. Renato Sanches rattled the post too with a stunning strike but the damage was done.

Spain had been frustrated by Sweden on Matchday 1 and again struggled to establish any rhythm early on before taking the lead out of the blue in the 25th minute. Moreno cut inside from the right and unleashed a shot that was turned in by Morata, played just onside by Bartosz Bereszyński.

Moreno soon curled a free-kick narrowly wide as Spain sought to press home their advantage but Poland had already shown their threat and might have been back on terms before the break. Karol Świderski volleyed over before Lewandowski's fierce close-range effort was kept out by Unai Simón.

Nine minutes into the second half, there was no escape for Spain. Kamil Jóźwiak curled in a pinpoint cross from the right and Lewandowski climbed between two defenders to power a header beyond Simón. Polish joy might have been short-lived after Jakub Moder was adjudged to have fouled Moreno inside the area three minutes later, but Moreno fired the resulting penalty against the right-hand post with Morata unable to steer the rebound on target.

Spain tried to push for a winner but Poland dug in and held out for the point that takes their Group E qualification hopes into Matchday 3, UEFA reported.
