With both having failed to win so far, Switzerland meet Group A's bottom side Turkey in their final Euro 2020 group game on Sunday.

To secure a ticket to the knockout stages, three points are now essential in Baku, as neither nation could handle red-hot Italy or overcome Wales - leaving them in a perilous position after the first two matches.

Having been eliminated at the group stage three times before a last-16 exit five years ago, Switzerland are in danger of underperforming on the continental stage again, after a lacklustre start to their Group A campaign.

Ranked 13th in the world, La Nati had won six games in a row coming into these Championships - in a run which stretched back to last November - but have now picked up only one point from two Euro 2020 outings.

After conceding a lead to draw with Wales and then being thumped 3-0 by an impressive Italy side last time out in Rome, the Swiss have now won only two of their 15 fixtures at Euros past and present.

At Stadio Olimpico, on Wednesday, Switzerland barely threatened the well-drilled Italian rearguard despite sharing possession almost equally, with Haris Seferovic and Breel Embolo labouring fruitlessly up front.

Following that deflating defeat, coach Vladimir Petkovic will be dismayed that his team's destiny is no longer in their own hands, but they could yet finish second in the group and assure safe passage to the last 16.

However, Switzerland will require Wales to lose to a potentially much-changed Azzurri to do so, while also needing to post a better goal difference than Robert Page's buoyant side.

After losing their first game of a Euros for the fifth consecutive time on the opening night, Turkey's tournament went from bad to worse on Wednesday, as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat against 2016 semi-finalists Wales.

Switzerland vs Turkey: Predictions

We say: Switzerland 2-2 Turkey

Though neither nation was expected to reach the Championships' sharp end, it has been a humbling experience for both to date.

Now freed by the knowledge that a win - potentially by several goals - is a must, they can both allow their flair players, such as Xherdan Shaqiri and Hakan Calhanoglu, the opportunity to get forward at will.

As a result, an open, frenetic encounter could be in store - ending in a draw which would send them both tumbling out of the tournament.

Switzerland vs Turkey: Betting tips

Under 2.5 Goals

While only two of the last six meetings between Switzerland and Turkey have produced under 2.5 goals, we're expecting a very close game between the pair this Sunday. Both teams lost heavily to Italy and Switzerland were held to a 1-1 draw by Wales, with Turkey losing 2-0 against Bale and co. Turkey haven't looked good in the final third and are yet to score at Euro 2020, while Switzerland have only looked slightly better in front of goal. This is a must-win game for both countries and as such, it's likely to be tight and tense throughout. Three of Turkey's last four matches have produced under 2.5 goals.

BTTS – No

Again, the history between these two nations suggests that both teams will score, but we are going the other way based on their performances at Euro 2020 so far. Switzerland have not been clinical enough in the final third, netting one goal in their opening two matches, while Turkey have looked really poor in front of goal and are yet to get off the mark. Veteran forward Yilmaz has been feeding of scraps but even when Turkey have created clear-cut goalscoring opportunities, they have failed to covert them. Turkey have now failed to score in three of their last four Internationals and we're expecting more of the same from them on Sunday.

Switzerland to Win

Switzerland have looked slightly better than Turkey in the tournament so far and we believe their extra quality in the final third will see them through to a narrow victory this weekend. The Swiss have won four of their last six international matches and have only failed to score in one of those six encounters. Turkey have lost their last two games and have failed to score in three of their last four fixtures.
