Exhibition Honoring Sea and Islands Cultural Heritage to Underway in Binh Thuan

The exhibition "Vietnamese sea and islands cultural heritage" was held with rich activities, displaying 270 photos and artifacts, giving an overview of Vietnam's seas and islands.

An exhibition on Vietnam’s sea and islands cultural heritages will take place in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province, from August 27 to September 3, NDO reported.

The exhibition will introduce, promote, and honor tangible and intangible cultural heritage values and unique tourism products of Vietnam's seas and islands.

This is an activity organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province, and the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts in collaboration with the People's Committees of Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, and Ca Mau.

The exhibition is within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2023.

With the theme of Vietnam's sea and island cultural heritage, the exhibition introduces 270 images and artifacts about Vietnam's seas and islands, including four main contents including documents and artifacts about the history of Vietnam’s sea and island culture; building and protecting Vietnam’s sovereignty over seas and islands; art photos of Vietnam’s seas and islands; and Vietnamese youth with Vietnam’s seas and islands.

In addition, the cultural heritages, seas, and islands of 22 provinces and cities across the country will be displayed at the event. At the same time, introducing and promoting tourism potentials, ecotourism products, sustainable marine tourism associated with the value of local cultural heritage, through models, artifacts, images and pictures, installation art, publications, costumes, art performances, cuisine, local specialties and traditional craft demonstrations at the exhibition area, interacting with artisans.

The highlight is the street festival with the theme "Colors of Binh Thuan" with many participating art troupes (more than 400 people) with unique props and costumes.

The exhibition is an activity to promote sea and island cultural heritage, promote tourism development, and contribute to raising the community's awareness to join hands in protecting the marine environment and sovereignty of Vietnam’s seas and islands.

Meanwhile, the first photo exhibition on Hoang Sa (Paracels) and Truong Sa (Spratlys) in the central province of Quang Ngai opened in the central park of Quang Ngai city on August 19, according to VNA.

The event is held by the High Command of Naval Region 3 and the Arts and Literature Association of the province.

Among the 110 photos on display, the 60 by members of the Quang Ngai association reflect the daily life of naval soldiers and residents in Truong Sa, along with visits by those from the mainland to the soldiers and residents on the islands and DK1 platforms there.

Twenty others by the high command depict naval officers and soldiers’ training, combat readiness, and efforts to safeguard the country’s sea areas, as well as their actions to support and save fishermen working in the vicinity of Hoang Sa.
