The work of preserving and promoting the Vietnamese language as well as the national cultural identity has received increasing attention after 20 years of implementing Resolution 36-NQ/TW of the Politburo on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs.

2023 is the first year of implementing the Vietnamese Language Day Project. From 2023, the annual celebration of the Vietnamese Language Day falls on September 8. It has become an important annual milestone in the cultural and spiritual life for the Vietnamese community abroad.

The Vietnamese Language Day Project is a groundbreaking project by SCOV, aiming to cement the Party and State's policies on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs. The implementation of the project in recent times has received the attention and active participation of both domestic ministries, departments, branches, and representative agencies, Vietnamese associations and individuals on all continents .

The project is implemented domestically and internationally with many rich and meaningful activities such as organizing professional training courses on Vietnamese teaching for teachers and volunteers abroad or persuading local authorities to include Vietnamese language in the curriculum of high schools and universities. Preserving Vietnamese must first come from the family

I highly appreciate the implementation of Vietnamese language projects is encouraging but limitations remain. With the Vietnamese Language Day Project, we hope to overcome this limitation. Still, preserving Vietnamese must first come from the family. If the family does not encourage and create favorable conditions for learning Vietnamese and for using it, promoting Vietnamese will be difficult . Family is the environment for children to learn Vietnamese. Only by preserving the Vietnamese language can we preserve Vietnamese culture and traditions abroad.
