According to the government’s Decree No. 100/2020/ND-CP issued on August 28, 2020, foreign tourists who travel in groups by sea and have valid travel documents are eligible to purchase duty-free goods at seaports type 1 or from inland duty-free shops.
The decree also stipulates that passengers on international flights to Viet Nam are eligible to by duty-free goods on the aircraft.
Other people eligible for buying duty-free goods include people who have finished the procedures for exit or transit, passengers on international flights departing from Viet Nam, VGP reported.
People who are going to exit or transit through international land border gates, international railway border gates, seaport type 1, and international civil airports shall also be allowed to buy goods at duty-free shops in designated areas.
The Decree clearly stipulates that policies for goods sold at duty-free shops and warehouses must comply with relevant law on taxation and tax administration. Currencies used in tax-free sales transactions include VND, USD, EUR, as well as currencies of countries sharing land borders with the places duty-free shops located, or countries where international flights are established and operated under Vietnam law on entering and transiting. |
