On the morning of May 11, in Hanoi, the Vietnam - India Friendship Association held a virtual ceremony to hand over 100 ventilators to India, which has witnessed an explosion in Covid-19 cases amid a second wave of infections, whose impact has been greater than the first wave.
Attending the ceremony were Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association; Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, VUFO President; Ambassador of the Republic of India to Vietnam Pranay Verma; Standing Vice Chairman of Vietnam - India Friendship Association Ha Minh Hue and leaders of top Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup.
In the current serious outbreak of Covid-19 in India, the Vietnam - India Friendship Association has mobilized Vingroup to donate 100 ventilators worth more than VND 10 billion (USD 432.500) to the people of India.
At the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung briefed information on the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic in Vietnam; shared his deep sympathy for the difficulties and efforts of the Government and people of India in the prevention and control of the Covid-19.
The small gifts demonstrate the Vietnamese people’s solidarity and friendship with their Indian peers, he noted.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung believes that, with the leadership of the Government, the solidarity and unanimity of the Indian people, the in India will soon be controlled.

Ambassador Pranay Verma thanked the noble gesture of the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, the Vietnam-India Friendship Association as well as the Vietnamese people.
The Ambassador emphasized that this breathing assistance machines was the attention and timely sharing, demonstrating the friendly and traditional cooperation between India and Vietnam in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. India appreciates the valuable affections and will effectively uses the breathing assistance machines from the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, and Vietnam - India Friendship Association, he added.
Previously, in April 2020, the Vietnam - India Friendship Association had called on businesses in the information and communications sector to donate 100,000 antibacterial cloth masks to the Indian people.
The Vietnam-India Friendship Association is also raising fund to support India in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. The Friendship Association on May 6 have sent dispatches to their chapters at the provincial and municipal level on raising money to support pandemic-affected people in India.

India on May 11 witnessed a slight decline in the number of daily coronavirus disease (Covid-19) spike, registering 329,942 such cases in the preceding 24 hours. With this, the country's cumulative coronavirus infection tally has now reached 22,992,517, Hindustan Times reported. Official data from the Union ministry of health and family welfare's dashboard at 10am (local time) also showed that 3,876 new fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking India's Covid-19 death toll to 249,992. Yesterday, the country had marked 366,161 fresh Covid-19 cases and 3,754 new deaths from the disease. There are currently 3,715,221 active Covid-19 cases in India, data from the health ministry shows; this accounts for 16.53% of the total cases. As many as 19,027,304 patients have been discharged till now, after being treated for Covid-19. The national recovery rate resides at 82.39%, while the mortality rate is at 1.09%, according to official data. |
