Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue has sent a letter sharing his thoughts with the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee, authority, and people on COVID-19 prevention, according to Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Party and State and the sharing of provinces and cities nationwide, Hai Duong Province would promote solidarity and creativity to carry out preventive measures and succeed in the fight against COVID-19, ensuring safety for people, restoring socio-economic development, and developing Hai Duong into a rich and strong province.

On February 18, on behalf of the Hanoi Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the City Fatherland Front, President of the city Fatherland Front Nguyen Lan Huong presented assistance worth VND2 billion and 50,000 medical face masks to help Hai Duong control the pandemic.

She stressed that apart from the assistance, the Hanoi Party Committee directed the industry and trade sector to give utmost support for the consumption of products and goods, especially agricultural products of Hai Duong Province; and be ready to provide medical equipment and staff to increase testing capacity and other requirements for COVID-19 prevention.

Receiving the assistance, President of the Hai Duong Provincial Fatherland Front Nguyen Duc Tuan confirmed that Hanoi’s assistance would help the province defeat the pandemic, expressing his hope that the province would receive more support from other localities in the prevention of COVID-19.

In response to the municipal Party chief, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has cooperated with its peers from Hai Duong and Quang Ninh provinces to sell 300 tons of vegetables and fruits in the distribution system in Hanoi and stores of Hanoi retailers in other provinces.

Acting Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan said that due to impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the sale of agricultural and aquatic products in provinces of Quang Ninh and Hai Duong has encountered a lot of difficulties, said HanoiTimes.

Earlier, on February 20, at the quarantine station of Hiep Bridge in Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province, the Thai Binh authorities presented their neighboring province of Hai Duong with specialized medical supplies for COVID-19 prevention and control worth VND1 billion. In addition, Thai Binh also committed to supporting the health sector of Hai Duong in medical isolation, SARS-CoV-2 testing, and tracing work, Nhan Dan Newspaper reported.

The Vietnam Central Retail Group (which owns the Big C brand) plans to buy 100 tonnes of Hai Duong's agricultural products next week and may increase this to 200 tonnes per week in case of stable entry and exit conditions to/from the epidemic-hit locality. VinCommerce (which owns the VinMart supermarket chain and VinMart+ convenience stores) is also committed to purchasing safe agricultural products from Hai Duong. The Mega Market brand also sent an official letter to the People's Committee of Hai Duong province to support new connections with local business units and farmers, while at the same time committing to being ready to supply basic necessities at Hai Duong’s demand.

Three more Covid-19 patients were confirmed in the northern province of Hai Duong Tuesday morning, raising its community infections to 620 in less than a month.

By Tuesday morning, Vietnam has registered 2,395 Covid-19 cases and 640 are active.
