As one of the long-established charities in Vietnam, the Consular Club of HCM City whose members are from diplomatic corps in the city have joined hands to create the key event in order to raise funds for lives of local people in need.

As the tradition of the previous event, a lot of handicrafts, delicious food and other items from all over the world were selling at this event for charity.

Visitors joined a raffle draw offering valuable prices like vouchers for deluxe resorts and hotels around Vietnam, spa packages, and lunch or dinner vouchers at luxury restaurants in HCM City.

Singapore's Consul-General Leow Siu Lin delivered the opening remarks, as Dean of the Consular Corp, to thank the organising committee and participating diplomats for their unwavering support to return back to the local community.

The funds raised at the bazaar this year will be used by the Consular Club for charity projects implemented in 2018 to improve the quality of life of the most disadvantaged groups living mainly in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces.

Founded in 1994, the Consular Club of HCM City is a non-political and non-profit organization, with its ambitions to improve the quality of life of the most disadvantaged groups in HCM City and neighboring provinces has supported small yet necessary projects for people in need.

Members of the club come from various foreign consular missions in HCM City’s members are from the various diplomatic missions in HCM City.

The club has a monthly meeting to discuss how to raise and use funds effectively for projects in the areas of health, education and basic needs. Especially, the club’s biggest fundraising event is the annual International Charity Bazaar which raised USD 70,000 for 12 charity projects last year, including scholarships for children and teenagers, free ROP surgery for blindness in premature babies, and water filtration for shelters./.
