Honoring Vietnamese Ao Dai in Malaysia

On the occasion of Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and the Liaison Department of the Vietnamese Community in Johor state jointly organized the Vietnam Ao Dai Beauty Contest in Malaysia.

Early in 2022, the Vietnam Ao Dai Beauty Contest in Malaysia was introduced, and via both in-person and online selection phases, more than 100 participants from all around Malaysia responded with enthusiasm.

Twenty participants competed in the final round, which consisted of two rounds of Ao Dai performances and questions about Vietnamese Ao Dai expertise, on October 16 in the state of Johor.

The jury chose six awards from the 20 competitors, including first, second, third, and three consolation medals.

Nguyen Thai Hung, Second Secretary, the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia, spoke at the contest's beginning and expressed her admiration for the role played by Vietnamese women in the modern day.

Additionally, he sent greetings and well wishes from Ambassador Tran Viet Thai to the Vietnamese children living and working in Malaysia. He also expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community would continue to uphold its unifying spirit, respect the host nation's laws, and maintain its unique national identity.

Twenty competitors that made it to the final stage of the competition have a passion of Ao Dai and a wish to share their traditional attire with people all around the world, but especially Malaysia.

They all reside and are employed in Malaysia. 20 Ao Dai ensembles are 20 beautiful examples of traditional Vietnamese attire that together paint a vivid image of Vietnam.

While the competitors from the southern region preferred the flowing ao dai with a turban, the contenders who were new to Vietnam preferred the ao dai printed with picturesque locations. from the North's ancestral home.

After the competition, Nguyen Nhu Hao, Head of the Vietnamese Community in Johor's Liaison Department, remarked that in addition to celebrating the beauty of traditional costumes, the event also served to preserve, preserve, and promote the beauty of traditional costumes. About 300 people, many of them Vietnamese-Chinese brides in Malaysia, participated in the Vietnam Ao Dai Beauty Contest in Malaysia as a result of the Vietnamese community's enthusiastic response.

The judges' representative, Pham Thi Nhung, said that for the Vietnamese population living abroad, the competition is a deeply moving spiritual experience.
