HUFO donates 7.500 face masks for Malaysia's COVID-19 fight

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) on May 21 presented 7,500 face masks and 100 liters of the antiseptic solution to Malaysia’s Consulate General as a gesture of supporting its people battle the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

One again, in the spirit of solidarity amid the ongoing pandemic, the HUFO have visited Malaysia’s Consulate General in the city and handed over the urgently-needed medical supplies for use in the fight against COVID-19.

This is not the first time that the HUFO had channeled contributions for COVID-19 fight both inside and outside Vietnam.

Last month, the HUFO has already presented face masks and antiseptic solution to Thai Consulate General and French Consulate General in the city.

Earlier, 4,000 antibacterial masks and 400 bottles of hand wash gel was handed over to Bui Thanh Khiet Primary School in Nha Be District; and 5,000 antibacterial masks and 400 bottles of hand wash gel were handed over to Binh Khanh Primary School in Can Gio District.

The union also recently donated 2,400 bottles of water and 100 liters of disinfectant solution worth VND 25 million (USD 1.072) to the Cu Chi field hospital with the sponsorship of Hoang Minh Water Joint Stock Company.

The HUFO will continue to co-ordinate efforts alongside relevant agencies to provide financial support and donate medical supplies and equipment in the near future to the diplomatic missions, international communities living, working, and studying in the city to help them overcome COVID-19 challenges.

According to CNA, the number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia crossed the 7,000 marks on May 20 as 31 new cases were reported, taking the cumulative total to 7,009 infections.

No new deaths were recorded, leaving the total number of fatalities at 114, said Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah./.
