An extreme sports carnival was held on Dec. 20 in central China's Zhangjiajie, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The event has attracted participants from home and abroad to take up the challenge of bungee jumping, rock climbing, cycling, among others.
Extreme sports fans from the Philippines, Nepal, Canada, and China went bungee jumping from a 260-meter high platform of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon's glass-bottom bridge. They also performed stunts in the air. Zhang Zehui, who made his greatest horizontal distance from the bungee platform, won the championship, Xinhua reported.

Bungee Jumping at Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
Bungee jumping at Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge opens to visitors on December 15, 2020. It is the highest bungee platform in the world, which has a drop of 300 meters (984 feet). The bungee platform (allowing 30 people maximum) is in the middle of the glass bridge.
The bungee jumping activity is operated by the company Bungy China. It’s a brother company Bungy Japan owns six platforms in Japan. Bungy China’s parent company is one of the biggest bungee companies in the world.
AJ Hackett, the father of bungee jumping, commented that the bungee jump at Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge is the most exciting, the most beautiful, and the highest bungee jump in the world.

Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge is the highest and longest glass-bottomed bridge in the world. It stretches 430 meters long and 6 meters wide, hovering over a 300-meter vertical drop. The dizzying footbridge spans between two cliffs in the Grand Canyon of Zhangjiajie, according to China Travel.

Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge Construction
Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan, is suspended about 300 meters above the Grand Canyon. The construction of the bridge began in 2014 and officially opened to the public on August 20, 2016, as the tallest and longest glass-bottomed bridge in the world.
The bridge, supported by 4 pillars at the edge of the canyon, is made of tempered glass panels. Each of these panels is 2-inches-thick and weighs 1.5 tons. It is capable of holding 800 people at a time. There is also a platform for making the world’s highest bungee jump, at 285 meters (935 feet). But the bungee jump is not yet set up.
