Independence Day in Hearts of Overseas Vietnamese

They remember the red flag with yellow star flying in the autumn days, the bustle in the alleys and outside the neighborhood, remember the joyful faces laughing and talking happily, visiting Ba Dinh square, attending the flag-raising ceremony, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of the Independence Day. That is the feeling of overseas Vietnamese around the world on National Day, September 2.

Tran Van Dan (Inchoen, RoK): Remember the red flag with yellow star, the bustle in the alleys and outside the neighborhood

On September 2, I watched the clip of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence and I cried. Uncle Ho is simple, and his voice is warm. In an instant, the feeling of nostalgia for the Fatherland, for the loved ones surged again.

After 11 years of coming to the RoK, in my memory, National Day is the day when the whole country is bright with flags and flowers, inside and outside the alleys are bustling with laughter.

This year's National Day, from far away, I hope my parents at home are always healthy and peaceful, and I wish Vietnam to prosper more in the international arena.

Vu Trong Thu (Lecturer at HCT - Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE): Wanting to take my two children to visit Ba Dinh Square, and attend the flag raising ceremony

Every day, I often read online newspapers to know about the country's situation, newly built projects, roads and even outstanding social issues.

Not being able to return to Vietnam for more than 3 years due to the Covid-19 pandemic is the time when I miss my Fatherland the most.

At that time, I sat in the laboratory many times, and watched the satellite I helped create fly in orbit across Vietnam's territory. An indescribable feeling arose in my heart, feeling like I was a little closer to the Fatherland.

On National Day, I miss my family and friends in Vietnam. I want to bring my family back to visit Vietnam, take my two children to visit Ba Dinh square and attend the flag-raising ceremony. I want my children to have the opportunity to experience and learn more about the nation's heroic history and traditions.

Master Phap Quang (abbot of Truc Lam Zen Monastery in Sri Lanka): Independence Day - hope everyone can live in peace and love

After nearly 10 years of studying and living in the pearl of the Indian Ocean, we all attended the National Day ceremony in Sri Lanka. This year too, the National Day ceremony was held solemnly at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo under the direction of the Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka.

The heroic national anthem resounds with national happiness and pride. In the program, there were also Sri Lankan children in ao dai, red flag with yellow star performing conical hat dance performances, warming the hearts of all guests.

Prof. Nguyen Hong Son, head of the Association of Vietnamese in Japan: Joining hands to build a more developed country

Every time I see the achievements of the Vietnamese community in Japan, the sacred red color of the country's flag, and taste a dish with a taste of home, it reminds me of Vietnam.

Remembering the stories of my predecessors, those who sacrificed and contributed to the development of the country, I always wonder how I can contribute to the Fatherland while living abroad.

By promoting cultural exchange programs, investment cooperation, and technology transfer between Vietnam and Japan, I hope to play a role in the development of my country, my homeland Vietnam.
