India daily weather forecast latest, February 24: Wet spell to continue and rains lash parts of Kashmir
According to Hindustan Times, Kashmir witnessed dry weather for the past more than two weeks as day temperatures hovered around 8 to 9 degrees above normal in most parts.
"Under the influence of two Western Disturbances, scattered and widespread rain and snow is most likely in J&K during Feb 22 to end of the month. This system is to affect north Kashmir, Western Ladakh in next two days, central, south kashmir, Pirpanchal and Jammu from 25 Feb onwards,"Director, IMD Sonum Lotus said.
He said due to a change in weather conditions there could be heavy rains at some places on February 25 and 26 which may cause a disruption in flights on February 26th.
Western Disturbances – winds blowing from the Mediterranean mostly bring rains or snow in the valley.

After a harsh winter in January, Kashmir witnessed dry weather for the past more than two weeks as day temperatures hovered around 8 to 9 degrees above normal in summer capital Srinagar and other places.
Kashmir has been experiencing the harshest winter in 30 years with temperatures plunging to record levels in the month of January. On January 31, Srinagar recorded a temperature of minus 8.8 degrees C, lowest since the January of 1991.
There were a number of snow spells as well as chilly nights causing water bodies and water pipes to freeze for weeks.
Kashmir’s winter pans out in three stages, starting with the 40-day intense period from December 21 (Chillai Kalan) followed by 20 more days that are less intense (Chillai Khurd) and lastly 10 days of mild cold (Chille Bache).
Hot day conditions are slowly building up over Pune, which is experiencing clear skies. On Tuesday, the city’s minimum temperature recorded at Shivajinagar was 15.2 degrees, while at Pashan and Lohegaon it was 16.4 degrees and 17 degree Celsius, respectively.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said there are no active weather systems over Maharashtra.
The maximum temperature over the city on Wednesday is expected to be 31 degrees but the minimum temperature could marginally rise and range between 14 to 16 degree Celsius, Indian Express reported.
5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast
A western disturbance is set to affect the weather over the Western Himalayan region by bringing widespread snow/rain, along with local thunderstorms and hail for the next few days, Weather.com reported.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system will produce fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/snowfall over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad during the next five days; isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall over Himachal Pradesh for the next two days, and fairly widespread for subsequent three days and isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall over Uttarakhand the during next five days.
Furthermore, isolated thunderstorms and lightning are very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next five days. Isolated hailstorms are also expected over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on 24th and 25th; Himachal Pradesh during 25th-27th, and over Uttarakhand during 23rd-27th February.

Lastly, isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall have been predicted over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on 25th, 26th and 27th February, and over Himachal Pradesh on 26th and 27th February.
TWC met team forecasts that the heaviest snowfall will occur on Friday, with snow totals in excess of 80 cm/day likely over the western part of Jammu & Kashmir. Also, intermittently isolated snow/rain is expected over the Himalayan region for the next few days as well.
Meanwhile, a feeble cyclonic circulation located over Northern Kerala is expected to bring spells of rain in some areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala on Tuesday.
Warmer temperature trends have been forecast for much of India until early March at least. Temperatures exceeding 40°C are possible in some pockets of Konkan and Goa from Saturday onwards.
Dense fog is likely in some plain areas of North India on Tuesday and Wednesday in the morning period.

Widespread snow/rain, thunderstorms and hail have been forecast over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Scattered rain/snow, thunderstorms and hail are likely over Himachal Pradesh.
Isolated snow/rain, thunderstorms and hail are possible over Uttarakhand. Isolated rain is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Dense fog is likely in some areas of Punjab and Haryana in the morning period.
