On October 22nd (September 10th in lunar month), the Keo Pagoda Autumn Festival 2015 was officially organized in DuyNhat commune, Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province.

The Keo Pagoda Autumn Festival is to commemorate Buddhist priest Duong Khong Lo (Ly Quoc Su) (1016 – 1094) and those who took the credit for the pagoda construction.

The event is an opportunity for Thai Binh province to introduce its tourism potential, the local land and people to tourists, contributing to promote the economy, culture and social development of the province, helping to build awareness of the need for the preservation and promotion of traditional culture values of the country.

In addition to the traditional religious rituals, the festival also hosts a variety of other cultural activities including many folk games and a performance of traditional dances.

Keo Pagoda is one of the most unique and spectacular structure of Vietnam. Almost 400 years old carrying a number of repairs, the pagoda remains relatively unspoiled compared with the original.

With the custom of worshiping Buddhist priest Khong Lo, the Keo festival is held twice during the year, once in Spring and again in the Autumn: on the fourth day of the first lunar month, and from the 13th to the 15th day of the ninth lunar month.

This year’s festival is scheduled to run until October 27th (September 15th in lunar month)./.
