The 500-meter-long lantern street is always packed with people flocking there to have some check-in photos and enjoy the festive vibes of the annual Mid-Autumn Festival.
“My kids pester us to take them here every year when Mid-Autumn’s drawing near. From my viewpoint, Luong Ngoc Lu lantern street is a must-visit place in Saigon if you want to feel the vibes of Mid-Autumn”, Luong Minh Hoang, 43, was quoted by Thanh Nien.

A lantern store displaying a wide of choice of colorful lanterns that come in various shapes and sizes. Buyers can easily choose one to their likings.
Do Thi Anh Thu, lantern retailer said customers could feel free to take photos at her shop, even if they didn’t buy anything. Her sales volumes this year were lower this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so does the number of customers.
“Lantern prices are pretty much the same as last year, with the small ones sold at VND 30,000 (US $1,3), and the larger items can be even 10 times higher”, she said.

In the evening, Luong Ngoc Nhu street looks even more colorful and festive as lines of stores are illuminated, even some toys are turned on their lights.
Red is the theme color of traditional lanterns, making the street look as fanciful as a movie scene.

Later models this year are pretty much the same as last year’s, with star lanterns still dominate the market, followed by butterfly wings lanterns, fish-shaped, chicken-shaped lanterns, etc.
