On October 9, the Dak Lak People's Committee had a meeting with the delegation of CARE International in Vietnam (CARE) to visit and work in the province on implementing two projects "She Thrives" and "She Feeds the World" (Photo: Minh Hue).

The projects are expected to benefit 6,000 people in ethnic minority areas, including more than 3,000 women.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thien Van spoke highly of CARE and its partners' support for Dak Lak through the two projects.

"In addition to the existing development potentials and advantages, some fields and areas in Dak Lak are still facing difficulties and need the cooperation and assistance of international organizations, sponsors, and NGOs," Van said

Van expressed his hope that in the coming time, based on the results achieved, CARE and its partners will continue to support Dak Lak province to develop in the field of improving production value, modernity, and adapting to climate change; support effective connection of product consumption markets in a sustainable way to increase income for people in the province.

At the reception, Le Kim Dung, Director of CARE International in Vietnam appreciated Dak Lak province for the warm welcome to the delegation, and introduced the PepsiCo Foundation (CARE’s sponsor/partner) as well as activities implemented within the framework of the projects "She Thrives" and "She Feeds the World." She also discussed cooperation opportunities to implement CARE’s programs with the province in the near future.

In Dak Lak province, CARE is currently coordinating with partners to implement two projects "She Thrives" and "She Feeds the World". In particular, the project "She Feeds the World" has been implemented from December 2022 to December 2024, with a total capital of nearly VND 7 billion to support small-scale farmers (particularly women and ethnic minorities) to have more secure and resilient livelihoods for food, nutrition, and water security. The project is expected to impact 2,000 people, of which 60% are women.

Implemented in Buon Ho from December 2022 to September 2024, "She Thrives" has a total budget of more than VND 3 billion to promote sustainable livelihoods for smallholder farmers, especially women and ethnic minorities. The project is expected to impact 4,000 people, of which 50% are women.

Through creating an enabling environment and factors, CARE will work with local people and partners to strengthen women’s capacity and access to economic opportunities and resources, which benefit not only themselves but their whole families and communities.
