Daniel Nguyen Hoai Tien was born and raised in Orange County, California, in a Vietnamese family. However, during childhood, he had limited exposure to his mother tongue. His turning point came when he enrolled in a Vietnamese language course at the University of California, San Diego. "That was the first step for me to explore the language of my roots," shared Daniel.
