On November 6th, in Hanoi, the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and partners co-organized a press conference to announce the "Vietnam Day Abroad 2024" program. This is the 12th year of the "Vietnam Day Abroad" program, aiming to promote the image of Vietnam, its people, and culture to international friends, contributing to deepening and sustaining Vietnam's relations with other countries, enhancing friendship, understanding, and trust between the peoples of various countries and Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Le Thi Hong Van, director of the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO, and head of the Organizing Committee, said "The theme of the "Vietnam Day Abroad 2024" program is "Convergence of Millennial Essence, Striving in a New Era," aiming to honor and affirm the cultural and historical values of the Vietnamese people throughout thousands of years. This theme not only emphasizes the precious cultural, artistic, and traditional achievements but also expresses the aspiration for development and integration in the context of modern globalization."
Through this theme, the Organizing Committee hopes that by reminding people of their rich cultural heritage, from language, customs, to traditional arts, it will be possible to encourage overseas Vietnamese to preserve and promote their national identity, and at the same time contribute to the development of the country in the era of technology and globalization.
Le Thi Hong Van, director of the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), emphasized that the "Vietnam Day Abroad" program is an important event in implementing Vietnam's cultural diplomacy strategy. |
The "Vietnam Day Abroad 2024" will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 15th to 17th, right before the G20 Summit. This is when the 20 largest economies in the world and many member countries gather, providing an opportunity for the program to reach a large number of high-ranking delegates attending the conference, thereby contributing to spreading the content and activities to the Brazilian people and many international friends.
Following that, the program will be brought to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, from December 13th to 15th. The program will continue to introduce the vibrant Vietnamese cultural space to the local audience.
In terms of content, the "Vietnam Day Abroad 2024" program consists of a cultural space and a performing arts program. The cultural space will introduce the public to typical Vietnamese cultural experiences with 10 cultural exchange activities including a photo exhibition commemorating diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brazil, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia, a photo exhibition of the essence of Vietnamese culture, and UNESCO-recognized world heritage sites in Vietnam, a check-in wall with images of the 54 ethnic groups, which is also a place to introduce international friends to a united Vietnam with a rich national identity, unique customs, and costumes.
In addition, Vietnamese cuisine will be introduced by culinary expert Nguyen Thuong Quan, head of the Vietnam Chef Association (VICA), promising to bring international audiences and the Vietnamese community in the host country many interesting experiences such as cooking classes, cooking demonstrations, banquets, and exhibition booths.
The Ambassadors of Vietnam to Brazil and Saudi Arabia expressed their enthusiasm for the "Vietnam Day Abroad 2024" event at the press conference, highlighting its significance in commemorating important milestones in bilateral relations.
The Ambassadors noted that both Brazil and Saudi Arabia have great potential for cultural cooperation.
