Overseas Vietnamese Enjoy New Year Gathering in Brazil

On the occasion of the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil held a gathering of the Homeland Spring 2023 in Sao Paulo state.

Spring, the season of new beginning, signaled the best hopes for the Vietnamese community in Brazil and the development of friendship and solid arity between Vietnam and Brazil.

At the gathering of Homeland Spring 2023 in Sao Paulo (Brazil), there were representatives of the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Brazil. There were also many Brazilian friends and partners have a close relationship with the Embassy and have actively supported the relationship between the two countries in recent years.

Hoa also mentioned the special meaning of the national traditional Tet this year, as well as the outstanding achievements that the Party, State and people of Vietnam in the fields of economic, social and cultural development. the country's foreign policy and culture in the past year.

Also, she emphasized that Vietnam - Brazil relationship is growing strongly in various fields, especially in economy, trade, which opened up new opportunities to bring the bilateral relations to a new stage of development in the coming time.

She said, in 2022, two-way trade turnover will reach nearly US $6.8 billion, the highest among Latin American countries. In the Belo Horizonte - Minas Gerais state of Brazil, there is a road named Vietnam. The two distinct cultures are able to come together in the spirit of unity and brotherhood.

Hoa stressed that the Vietnamese community has many opportunities to do business in Sao Paulo. This State has many advantages with large companies, corporations and an international airport, which is a transit place for trade goods between Brazil and South American countries in general as well as the states in Brazil in particular.

On the occasion of the New Year gathering, the Embassy staffs promised to the thoughts of people in the community to promptly solve difficulties.

The Embassy called on the Vietnamese community to promote solidarity, support each other, and comply with the local laws and to keep contributing to the homeland as well as to the relationship between Vietnam and Brazil.

This year, many of the guests said that they just returned after being in Vietnam to celebrate Tet with their family after two years of the epidemic. They thanked the Embassy for organizing this meaningful New-year gathering, holding at an appropriate time.

During the Tet holiday, the Embassy visited and gave gifts of Banh Chung, and traditional food to Vietnamese people in Brazil. .

"Besides the traditional taste, banh Chung also has the green color of the leaves...very tasty and beautiful. Spring rolls are delicious, wrapped tightly, and crispy. They all have the flavors that I've remembered since I was born," said Professor Phan Van Ngan, a Vietnamese resident living in Brazil for nearly 50 years.

Tran Van Thanh, another Vietnamese expat, who has lived in Brazil for more than 40 years, exclaimed that it has been more than 30 years since the last time he enjoyed banh chung and banh tet with the authentic Vietnamese essence."

Authentic Vietnamese food is hard to find in Brazil due to the distance and culture difference between the two countries. The Embassy managed to create the atmosphere with traditional food by making banh chung, banh tet, spring rolls, and pho among the community themselves.
