Overseas Vietnamese Make Important Contributions to Success of People's Diplomacy

On the afternoon of August 23, at the Presidential Palace, General Secretary and President To Lam received a delegation of outstanding overseas Vietnamese attending the 4th World Conference of Overseas Vietnamese.

At the event, representatives of the overseas Vietnamese community expressed their opinions, assessments, and suggestions on several issues related to our overseas Vietnamese.
Reporting to the General Secretary and the President on the results of the 4th World Conference of Overseas Vietnamese, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said that this is an important event, taking place at a crucial time when our nation is striving and accelerating to carry out the tasks set forth in the Resolution of the 8th Party Congress. This also marks the 20th anniversary of the implementation of Politburo Resolution 36-NQ/TW on the work of overseas Vietnamese.
Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the Vietnamese Associations overseas have always received special attention and affection from the Party, State leaders, ministries, agencies, localities, as well as our overseas Vietnamese community.
Many policy suggestions and recommendations from overseas Vietnamese have been acknowledged by domestic agencies, transformed into policies and legal regulations, appreciated by the community.
At the reception, the General Secretary and President acknowledged and appreciated the heartfelt and valuable advisory opinions of the overseas Vietnamese on the development of high technology, green and sustainable development, preserving and promoting Vietnamese culture and language, and strengthening the tradition of national great unity at the 4th World Conference of Overseas Vietnamese.
Besides, according to the General Secretary and President, the overseas Vietnamese community has made important contributions to the successes of people-to-people diplomacy in the renovation process.
Through cultural and religious exchange activities, our overseas compatriots are contributing to preserving the identity and promoting the cultural values of the nation, building a beautiful, hospitable image of Vietnam, gaining the affection of international friends, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige on the international arena.
"I hope that the six million overseas Vietnamese will continue to join hands to build a powerful, prosperous, and happy Vietnam. President Ho Chi Minh told overseas Vietnamese during a visit to France in 1946: 'Each overseas Vietnamese must be a People's Ambassador of Vietnam and contribute to the common cause of the entire nation,'" said To Lam.
He called on Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, and scientists abroad, those who have the fastest access to modern technology, to contribute ideas to build, and develop the homeland.
He hopes that the people will not only return to invest in the country but also strongly strengthen the role of a bridge to bring Vietnamese goods and brands to the world, promote Vietnamese cultural identity and the traditions of our nation to international friends.

The General Secretary and President also hopes that the people will integrate and strictly implement the laws of the host country, continuing to promote the tradition of solidarity, and mutual assistance.
He hopes to build an increasingly strong overseas Vietnamese community, contributing to the host country, especially in the key period towards the country's 2030, and 2045 goals.
The General Secretary and President believe that our compatriots always carry a warm love for their homeland in their hearts, and remember that "Vietnamese is the soul of the nation." Even when living far from home, our people should preserve the Vietnamese language and cultural traditions so that future generations do not forget their roots," as President Ho Chi Minh once reminded us.
The General Secretary and President affirmed that the Party, the State, and people of the country always create favorable conditions for Vietnamese people overseas to return home for visits, tourism, investment, and business. They are always open to listening to the aspirations, desires, and suggestions of our compatriots to contribute to national building.
The General Secretary and President emphasized that in the coming time, the Party and State will continue to build and improve policies to attract and utilize talents, promote the potential, strengths, and valuable resources of overseas Vietnamese in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. At the same time, they will strengthen cooperation with other countries to protect the legitimate rights of the Vietnamese community overseas, support compatriots in stabilizing their lives, integrating and developing strongly in the host society.
