Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien had had a working session with Őry Csaba, Ambassador of Hungary in Vietnam to discuss a number of cultural cooperation activities on the occasion of the Vietnam visit by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó on October 16.

At the meeting, the two sides focused on exchanging cultural development cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary. The Hungarian Ambassador emphasized that 2020 marks the year of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries. Therefore, Vietnam and Hungary has planned to carry out many cultural activities on this great celebration. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, commemorative activities are more or less affected.

2020 is also the two year anniversary of the Vietnam-Hungary Comprehensive Partnership, he added. This is an important milestone in the relationship between the two countries. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, some commemorative activities on this occasion were not carried out as planned.

However, the Ambassador affirmed that he would only delay but not cancel the cultural activities. Some programs commemorating, including translating a number of works of Hungarian authors into Vietnamese, inaugurating the construction of ceramic mural on the Hanoi Ceramic Road, etc.

Ambassador Őry Csaba also informed that on October 16, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade will visit Vietnam. On this occasion, the Ambassador conveyed the words of the Minister to Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien, wishing the two countries would have a successfully exchange and move forward to sign several cultural development cooperation documents. In addition, the two ministers will also have discussions related to the construction of a cultural and community centre in Hanoi.

In order for the promotion of Hungarian culture, tourism and people to the Vietnamese people to be effective, Ambassador Őry Csaba expressed his hope that Vietnam would support this country in promoting the country's image on television. In return, the middle-eastern European nation also asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to publish a handbook of Vietnamese tourism and cuisine in Hungarian.

Agreeing with the Hungarian Ambassador's ideas, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien highlighted that both sides have enjoyed sound ties in the past seven decades. In particular, the bilateral cultural and tourism cooperation over the past years always took place well and achieved many important achievements.

Regarding the visit of the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Thien fully supports the two countries to hold talks, sign cultural and tourism cooperation documents, and discuss the construction of building a Hungarian cultural center.

Regarding the release of the Vietnamese culinary and tourism handbook in Hungarian language, the Minister expressed his welcome and will assign the task to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism. In addition, the Ministry will also request a number of units to assist Hungary in promoting culture and tourism on mass media in Vietnam./.
