	Quang Ninh, Phu Quoc to become tourism centres of international standards

The Union of Friendship Organizations in the northern province of Quang Ninh held fifth congress for the 2020 - 2025 tenure on December 30.

During the past term, the Union held interesting activities, contributing significantly to provincial development of political, cultural, trade and economic relations; helped maintain and strengthen the friendship between international friendship associations and Vietnamese friendship associations.

People's external relations activities not only at the provincial level but have been expanded and developed in many localities, especially districts and cities in areas bordering China, have brought about critical results.

Sharing her thoughts on association’s working orientations in the next term, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga spoke highly of the achievements of the Provincial Union in the past term, actively and effectively contribute to the people-to-people diplomacy of the whole country in general and Quang Ninh province in particular. At the same time, confirming the results on the great efforts and initiative of the Provincial Union and especially the regular and close attention of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, the coordination of departments, departments and branches of Quang Ninh in recent years.

President Nga emphasized that in the coming time, the Provincial Union should focus on innovating, further improving the quality and efficiency of activities for people-to-people diplomacy. Promoting the image of Vietnamese people in general and the province in particular; Focusing on strengthening the depth of the partnership development process; Strengthening the mobilization, foreign non-governmental aid, attract investment sources in the province in the direction of enhancing the proactiveness and practicality in advocacy work, improving aid utilization in line with the province's benefits; continuing to consolidate and build the organization of the provincial Friendship Union and its member associations, to meet the mission requirements in the new period.

In particular, it is necessary to continue to thoroughly grasp and deploy the implementation of Directive No. 38-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on continuing innovation, promoting the role and improving the quality and effectiveness of VUFO’s activities in the new situation, Directive No.04-CT/TW dated July 6, 2011 of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat on continuing to innovate and improve the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation, Decision No.41/2013/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on a number of regimes and policies for the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), to create favorable mechanisms and policies for local member organizations to perform and fulfill their assigned political duties.

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen external communication and propaganda, pay attention to the application of information technology, develop a website in English to inform about the development achievements of the country and of localities, foreign policy of the Party and State, especially in matters of democracy, human rights, territorial sovereignty, sea and islands; and pay attention to building and developing human resource.

"The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, member organizations will do their best to support, coordinate and cooperate for Quang Ninh Union's more and more effective operation and making a worthy contribution to the socio-economic development and external relations of Quang Ninh province, more powerfully strengthening our Union system", said President Nguyen Phuong Nga.

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Van Hoi, Head of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Quang Ninh's Fatherland Front Committee warmly welcomed and praised the achievements and contributions of the Provincial Union in the past term. He hailed the efforts of the staff of the Provincial Union and member associations in the province, raised the sense of responsibility, enthusiasm, dedication to work, making an important contribution to the overall achievement of Quang Ninh province over the years.

Hoi also believes that the results and success of the Congress will open a new page in consolidating and promoting the role of the Provincial Union in people-to-people diplomacy in Quang Ninh province.

On the occasion, the Presidium of the VUFO presented one 'For Peace and Friendship between Nations' insignia, eight certificates of merit; Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee awarded eight certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with many contributions to the movement of solidarity and friendship in people-to-people diplomacy activities in Quang Ninh province in recent years.

The Congress elected a new executive board with 29 members. Vice Chairwomman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh was elected as the President of the Provincial Union./.
