Scholarships and IT Equipment Provided to Vietnamese Lao students
Star Telecom’s support package included two 100Mb fiber optic internet connections to be used in teaching, one computer room with 30 computers, IT solutions to modernize and fully digitalize teaching management, repair facilities and 50 scholarships for excellent students with disadvantaged backgrounds worth 500,000 LAK each.
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Vietnam to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, representative of the Vietnamese Association in Vientiane, Star Telecom general director Luu Manh Ha, principal of the school Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong and the teaching staff.

Ha said Star Telecom had been working with the school to implement programs and solutions to improve management and teaching effectiveness.
“We understand our responsibilities when we conduct our business in Laos. Together with the Vietnamese community in Laos, we hope to make the Nguyen Du Vietnamese – Lao bilingual language school better, becoming a top school in Vientiane and across Laos,” Ha said.
Star Telecom would focus on helping the school to modernize and digitize management and teaching, quickly carry out technological solutions to apply IT in-class activities and manage work using advanced technological solutions.
Huong said the Nguyen Du Vietnamese – Lao bilingual language school was a symbol of friendship between Vietnam and Laos. With support from the Embassy of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Association in Vientiane and Lao government agencies, the school has made significant achievements in education and training and was highly appreciated by the Vietnamese – Lao community and local authorities.
Huong added that Star Telecom’s gifts would motive both teachers and students at the Nguyen Du Vietnamese – Lao bilingual language school to work harder and achieve good results.
The school’s principal affirmed that Star Telecom’s gifts would be used for the right purposes, hoping to work with the school staff to develop the school into a top education center.
Ambassador of Vietnam to Lao Nguyen Ba Hung praised Star Telecom’s support for the Nguyen Du Vietnamese – Lao bilingual language school, especially as the school was currently struggling due to Covid. Hung also appreciated the contributions of teaching staff and highlighted that the school had been striving to maintain its education quality, earning the trust of the parents and education authorities in Laos.
Hung said the Embassy would fully assist the school and continue to call for the support of other businesses. The ambassador hoped the school’s staff would continue to work hard and help each other to deliver online courses per Vientiane authorities’ orders and believed the Nguyen Du Lao – Vietnamese bilingual language school was a great education model for the Vietnamese – Lao community.
The Nguyen Du Lao – Vietnamese bilingual language school was established in 2005 with support from the Government of Vietnam. The school currently offers courses in both languages, from kindergarten to Grade 12, with the participation of 1,071 Vietnamese – Lao and Lao students. |
