Thai Expats Join Vietnam's Blood Donation Drive
	Thai Nguyen's Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association Pays Respect to Veterans

Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and her entourage visited the central province of Quang Tri on August 15 to examine a project she is funding to enhance the life quality of children and adolescents in Asia-Pacific underway at Nguyen Tat Thanh Primary school in Dong Ha city, VNA reported.

Leaders of the school briefed the Thai Princess on the progress of the project so far, especially its achievements in caring for students’ health and providing them with physical and mental education services.

The school joined the project in 2023. In the 2023-2024 academic year, it had 816 students divided into 22 classes. Of the students, nine won prizes at contests for outstanding students at the national level, 55 won prizes at such contests at the provincial level and 89 at the city level in the year.

Stakeholders participated in a conference on enhancing the quality of life, education opportunities, and comprehensive development for children and adolescents in Asia-Pacific held in Thailand. As a result, officials, teachers, and staff of the school have learned to apply contemporary educational knowledge in the teaching and learning activities.

In March, the school received a delegation from the project's office, during which the delegation conducted many training activities for teachers and students at the school.

With the project's support, the school has established agricultural clubs drawing a large number of students, teachers, and parents.

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presented the school with five computers, two water filters, personal hygiene kits, school supplies, physical education and sports equipment, instruction books on farming and animal husbandry, and plant seeds.

The project aims to raise public awareness of improving the quality of life for children, ensuring students’ physical and mental development. It goes further to provide schools with vegetables and meat, fish, and eggs for students' lunches at school, and teaching students life skills such as self-care, personal hygiene, and environmental sanitation as well as farming skills.

Before that, on August 13 Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and the Thai royal delegation.

Princess Maha Chakri said that the Thai Royal Family is very interested in implementing community support projects in Vietnam. She affirmed that she will continue to expand the project for children and youth in Vietnam, and contribute to the development of the friendship relations and cooperation between the two countries.

On August 14, Thai Princess and a Thai royal delegation also visited Nam Cuong Primary School in Lao Cai city of the province of the same name, aiming to expand a project on improving the quality of life of children and youth in the Asia-Pacific region in Vienam, contributing to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. Nam Cuong Primary School is among units under a survey for joining the project.

Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is the third child of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the younger sister of King Maha Vajiralongkorn. She has visited Vietnam many times and carried out several charity and education projects in the country.

Princess Maha Chakri’s annual award for outstanding teachers with contributions to education and the community is presented to excellent teachers of the members of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation.

In March, the Thai princess delivered a 50-minute musical performance about Vietnam, called “Vietnam an long” (Vietnam at peace) at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok on the occasion of the 107th founding anniversary of the university.

“Vietnam an long” is a 68-line poem created by the Thai princess, highlighting her impression on Vietnam’s stunning landscapes and people. It was then adapted to nine songs on both Vietnamese and Thai music.

The performance was a combination of ensemble, choir and dance, drawing the participation of nearly 150 artists, with the princess in Vietnamese traditional long dress playing the saw duang (a two-stringed musical instrument of Thailand).
