UK's weather forecast

Temperatures across much of the UK are forecast to rise from next Sunday, July 26, according to new weather charts. The heatwave is set to rise well into August, as the mercury soars into the low 30s in just a week. The south of England can expect the best of the sizzling sunshine, but the West Country, Midlands and Wales can expect temperatures to rise to the low 20s, express.co.uk reported.

Netweather forecasts expect temperatures to soar from Sunday, July 26, as the mercury rises to 26C.

The sunny weather is set to last for around a week, with temperatures staying in the mid 20s for much of England.

Friday, July 31 will be a little cooler, as the last day of the month sees temperatures dip to 23C.

But by next weekend the mercury is forecast to soar once again to as high as 30C, as new weather charts show the south of England turn blood red as the heatwave strikes.

Saturday is expected to see temperatures rise into the high 20s in the south of England and parts of Wales.

But Sunday, August 2 will see the best of the glorious sunshine, as temperatures rise to as high as 30C.

The heatwave is also set to move further north, as the Midlands and parts of northern England also see the mercury soar.

WXCharts also show a marked change in temperatures from the first weekend in August, as an area of high pressure sweeps across the UK.

But while parts of England bask in scorching temperatures, the north of the UK, particularly Scotland and Northern Ireland, are set for intermittent showers, breezy conditions and cooler temperatures next week.

The Met Office said: "More settled weather is possible towards the end of July, especially across the south, though unseasonably wet and windy conditions are likely to return from the northwest.

"Temperatures around average, with any warm spells most likely in the south."

Netweather forecasters agreed and said: "Rain belts will cross the country at times, heaviest in the west, but often not amounting to much in the south and east of England.

"In between the rain belts, there will be some brighter, showery weather, with the majority of the showers in the north and east of Britain, where they could be thundery in places, most likely the eastern side of England."

As we enter the first week of August, the sunny spell in the south is expected to continue due to an area of high pressure moving in.

Netweather said: "A dry sunny spell is expected in the south early this week with high pressure ridging into the south for a time, but confidence is lower regarding whether the dry sunny weather will extend into Scotland and Northern Ireland, where it is more likely to remain cloudier with low pressure close to the north-west of Britain.

"Temperatures will generally not be far from normal but there is potential for it to turn quite hot for a time around midweek, particularly in the southeast."

They added: "Mean temperatures will mostly be around the normal for the time of year, but probably about 1C above in the east of England.

"Rainfall and sunshine totals are most likely to be near normal for most, but again in the south and especially southeast it may remain drier than normal."

Met Office chief meteorologist Dan Suri said: "Northern Ireland and Scotland will be under a band of cloud and rain on Monday and Tuesday.

"However, it'll be dry elsewhere with plenty of warm sunshine and temperatures reaching 28C or 29C in a few spots on Tuesday.

"Temperatures will continue to climb through the week with a hot spell developing across much of England and Wales.

"From Wednesday temperatures will widely reach into the high twenties Celsius and it'll be hot across much of the UK, especially central and southern England where we could see highs of 30C (86F) to 34C (93.2F).

"This hot weather is expected to last until at least Friday and so heatwave conditions are likely to develop for some areas this week."

The BBC has reported hot weather across the continent which could make its way up to the UK, meaning heatwave style conditions potentially taking place later this week.

The BBC's Louise Lear said: "It is dry and settled through much of the Mediterranean at the moment.

"It is the western Med that has got the heat, particularly across Iberia.

"High pressure is controlling things and it is quieting down in the UK down to France."

Europe's weather forecast

BBC Weather has forecasted extreme heat for parts of Europe as temperatures begin to rocket across the continent. BBC weather forecaster Louise Lear said the weather across Europe is unlikely to change much over the next few days. She said there will be extreme heat in the west of Europe, with some warnings being issued. The southeast of Europe will see similarily high temperatures with areas just short of 40C.

That being said, it is likely some northern areas will see rain as a downpour makes its way over from Scandinavia, express.co.uk reported.

"There is a weather front moving through Sweden and it will be effecting northern Germany and Poland. "That will also be bringing heavy outbreaks of rain as well."

Areas such as Madrid and Lisbon are reporting temperatures well into the 30s and some places on the coast reporting 40C.

A weather map from WXCharts, which takes its data from Met Desk, revealed that highs of 44C could be felt in parts of Portugal and southern Spain at about 3pm today.

The hot air is expected to move upward through France and towards the UK.

Unfortunately the Met Office doesn't predict the balmy temperatures will last longer than the end of this week, with a return to normal beginning over the weekend.

The Met Office outlook for the weekend and next week reads: "Bright or sunny spells across most of the UK, with a few slow-moving showers, potentially turning heavy at times.

"A cloudier start further south, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle clearing southwards throughout the day. Temperatures generally around the average, with the north staying cooler and the south possibly rather warm.

"As we head towards the coming weekend, it is likely that there will be some further outbreaks of rain and stronger winds at times towards the west, which may spread further into all parts of the UK.

"There will be periods of calmer and more settled weather during the following week, especially further south, though unseasonably wet and windy conditions will likely return frequently from the northwest.

"Temperatures around average, with any warm spells most likely in the south."

The BBC Weather forecaster said there would be dry weather across much of western Europe over the next few days.

She added central and eastern parts would see some wet weather due to a weather front moving in from Sweden.

She said: "Plenty of dry weather through the Meditteranean. "There is potential for a few sharp showers to develop across the Alps.

"We have also got a weather front moving its way out of Scandinavia."

Ms Lear noted that southeastern Europe would also see hot temperatures during the week.

Some areas in eastern Europe could see temperatures just shy of 40C but may also experience some showers.

She said: "Through Turkey, through Greece and the Greek isles the temperatures here will be from the low to mid-30s for many.

"We will see a few sharp showers, perhaps through the Czech Republic up into Germany.

"We have got that frontal system easing away to a few scattered showers across southern parts of Norway and Sweden.

"That is the story through Europe and we are not going to see much change on Wednesday."
