Vietnam Becomes Champion of the Southeast Asian Rowing & Canoeing Tournament 2024

On June 30, the closing ceremony of the 2024 Southeast Asian Rowing and Canoeing Championship took place. The championship belonged to the Vietnamese National team.

The tournament is organized by the Southeast Asian Rowing Federation, the Vietnam's Department of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), and the Vietnam Rowing Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Hai Phong city.

For 5 days, the tournament took place at the Hai Phong City Sailing Training Center. It welcomed 264 athletes from 7 Southeast Asian countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The teams competed for 43 sets of medals in various events.

The Vietnamese National team finished all 43 events in all age groups with flying colors. They won a total of 34 gold medals, 23 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals. As a result, the championship belonged to the Vietnamese National team.

The Indonesian team won second place with 5 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals. The Thai team is in third place with 2 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals.

Southeast Asian Rowing Federation President Rangsan Wongsan assessed that this is a tournament to evaluate the athletes' competitive ability in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games to be held in Thailand in 2025. Southeast Asian Rowing Federation highly appreciates the thorough preparation process done by Hai Phong city, the Vietnam Rowing Federation, especially their careful supervision of the racing tracks for athletes.
