48 new cases in the last 24 hours
Vietnam recorded 45 cases of COVID-19 from 6 am to 6 pm on April 29, with 39 detected among people being quarantined after arrival, one case who had completed quarantine after arrival, and five connected cases, according to the Health Ministry.
Patient 2899 returned from Japan on April 7 and was released from a concentrated quarantine site in Da Nang on April 22 after completing two weeks in quarantine and testing negative for the coronavirus three times. After returning to his home in the northern province of Ha Nam, he showed symptoms of coughing, fever, and sore throat, and turned out to be positive on April 24. Four others in his family also contracted the virus. Another case detected in Ho Chi Minh City was also connected to Patient 2899.
On the morning of April 30, 3 more domestically transmitted cases found in Hung Yen and Hanoi, all related to Patient 2899.

Hanoi raises warning to the highest level
Vice-Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung required raising the warning against COVID-19 resurgence in the city to the highest level at a meeting of the municipal steering committee for COVID-19 control on April 29 afternoon. Anyone who leaves Hanoi during the holiday is required to make a health declaration when returning, he said.
Since 0 am April 30, Hanoi closes all karaoke, bar, club parlor to ensure pandemic safety. The City People's Committee Chairman directs people to wear masks when going out, requires units to strengthen inspection, and strictly handles cases of illegal entry, and people who not wear masks. Unnecessary gatherings, holiday activities are also banned in the city.

Ha Nam closes karaoke, massage, internet parlor until further notices
On the afternoon of April 29, immediately after having information about COVID-19 cases in the area, the People's Committee of Ha Nam province issued an urgent call to temporarily close Tam Chuc Tourist Area, urgently implement COVID-19 pandemic prevention in the new situation, especially during the holidays of April 30 and May 1.
At the same time, the province suspends business activities such as karaoke, massage, online and offline internet games, entertainment areas until further notice. The Provincial People's Committee also requested to review, complete and reactivate the entire COVID-19 pandemic prevention force at all levels.
The People's Committee has directed propaganda and press agencies to enhance their work, widely announcing the pandemic prevention and control requirements in the area; update the hotline to receive information on pandemic prevention and control at all levels.

Coordination underway to arrange repatriation flights for Vietnamese citizens in India
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other representative agencies of Vietnam in India are working closely with competent agencies and airlines in Vietnam to prepare plans to support Vietnamese citizens and arrange flights to bring them home when necessary in conformity with developments of the pandemic, the ministry's Vice Spokesman Doan Khac Viet said on April 29.
He said that these Vietnamese agencies have continually posted relevant updates on their official websites and recommended Vietnamese citizens raise their awareness on pandemic control and follow related regulations of the host nations. They have been making efforts to maintain and set up more communications channels for Vietnamese communities and ensure ready supplies of necessities to aid the citizens when needed, Viet stressed.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country rose to 2,910, with 2,516 having recovered. The death toll remains at 35. Among patients still under treatment, 13 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 15 twice and 20 thrice. Meanwhile, 38,513 people are being quarantined nationwide. |
