The General Department of Customs has reported on the import and export results of raw materials and goods in April and the first 4 months of 2020.
According to the report, Vietnam had shipped 415.7 million cloth masks, fine dust masks and two-layer cotton masks for $63.2 million in 2020.
In April (new statistics are released until April 19), the total number of masks that businesses have exported is 88.19 million pieces, worth US$ 34 million.
In terms of mask type, about 36.88 million pieces are manufactured in machined manner; while exporting for non-commercial purposes (gifts and presents) is about 51.30 million pieces.
Vietnamese textile and garment firms have been receiving constant orders from the U.S. and Europe due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to VnExpress.

Regarding the export of masks, the Government has just issued Resolution No. 60/NQ-CP on the export of medical masks in COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control.
Specifically, the Government decided to abolish the regulation of applying export licensing regime for medical masks. Exporting businesses are responsible for the quality of medical masks and are committed to selling them to health facilities upon request.
Previously, the Government issued Resolution 20/NQ-CP on the export licensing regime for medical masks in COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control. The Resolution stated that the Ministry of Health applied the export licensing regime for medical masks and allowed to export only for national assistance by the Government of Vietnam (maximum 25% of output is used for export, 75% of output for domestic disease prevention and control), according to VGP News.
