Vietnam Keen to Develop Green Tourism With Saudi Arabia

At the meeting with Ahmed Agil F Alkhateeb, minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia and chairman of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on August 27 in Hanoi, Nguyen Van Hung, minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism made a number of proposals on tourism cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung also suggested that Vietnam and Saudi Arabia coordinate to build and sign a memorandum of cooperation on tourism, which is one of the important bases for businesses of the two countries to increase tourist exchange.
Hung said that the visit of Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Agil F Alkhateeb is a good opportunity for the two ministries to learn deeply about each country's tourism industry.
This helps strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, in order to promote tourism growth of the two countries, turn tourism into a green economy, a circular economy bringing great benefits to each country.
Vietnam considers Saudi Arabia a good friend. Overcoming the differences in geography, language, religion, the people of the two countries have a common desire to discover and learn about each other's country, culture and customs.
At the meeting, Ahmed Agil F Alkhateeb expressed his support for the proposal of Minister Nguyen Van Hung in working together to promote the tourism development of each country.
He said Saudi Arabia always considers Vietnam as a friend and reliable partner. The people of Saudi Arabia also have a lot of good feelings for Vietnam. Saudi Arabia is the largest economy in the Middle East, a bridge between the region and Asia. Developing relations with Saudi Arabia is also developing relations with the Gulf countries and the Muslim community.

Regarding cooperation between Vietnam and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that Vietnam is a responsible member of UNWTO.
In addition to fulfilling its obligations, Vietnam always cooperates with other countries and partners in the development of favorable policies and mechanisms to facilitate tourism development within the bloc and internationally.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung hoped that, as Chairman of the UNWTO Executive Council, Ahmed Agil F Alkhateeb would increase his interest and support for countries with potential for tourism development like Vietnam in issues such as strategy, policy, and marketing.
"Tourism should not only be viewed from an economic perspective, but it should also be a catalyst to increase solidarity among nations, thereby building a world of equality, peace, and friendship," Minister Nguyen Van Hung said.
Agreeing with Minister Nguyen Van Hung, Ahmed Agil F Alkhateeb said that UNWTO opened its first UNWTO regional representative office in the Middle East in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. If in the future, UNWTO opens a representative office in ASEAN, Saudi Arabia will give its maximum support.
After working with Minister Nguyen Van Hung, the Saudi tourism minister's delegation visited the National Museum of History, admiring Vietnam's national treasures.
