The Vietnam-US Friendship Association in central Da Nang city held its 6th Congress for the 2024 - 2029 period on August 6.
The congress determined that in the 2024 - 2029 term, it will continue to operate with the goal of building, consolidating and further enhancing the friendship, cooperative relations and mutual understanding between the people of Da Nang and the people of the United States.
The congress elected the 17-member Executive Committee of the association for the 6th term, the 2024 - 2029 period, led by Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Huu Phuc, rector of the University of Foreign Language Studies at the University of Da Nang.

Speaking at the congress, Nguyen Ngoc Binh, president of the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations, suggested that in the coming time, the association should continue to innovate the content and methods of organizing activities; based on the policies and orientations of the relationship between Vietnam and the US, research and hold people-to-people diplomatic activities with the US.
At the same time, gather those who have lived, studied, researched, and understood the United States to expand, connect partners and act as a bridge for friendly exchange activities between the people of Da Nang and the people of the United States. Thereby, contributing to consolidating, developing and deepening relations with US localities with which Da Nang has maintained relations; acting as a bridge for cooperation and investment activities of the US in Da Nang, especially in the fields of tourism, trade, and education.
According to the report presented at the congress, during the 2019 - 2024 period, the Da Nang's Vietnam - US Friendship Association actively coordinated with relevant agencies, units and US partners to organize many friendship activities such as mobilizing the Vietnamese Student Association of California University to donate 150 English comic books and organizing the program inspiring children to learn English at Phu Dong Secondary School; mobilizing the US Veterans for Peace to support funding to repair the house of a family of Agent Orange victim in Hoa Minh ward, Lien Chieu district, with a sponsorship amount of VND 96.6 million (USD 3.840); coordinating with the Da Nang-based University of Foreign Languages to organize an event to celebrate the Vietnam-US diplomatic relation's 25th anniversary.
The association also mobilized the Regional English Language Office (RELO) and the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to sponsor an online English classes for civil servants, officials and public employees in the city. The association organized a trip for local delegation to visit the US aircraft carrier escort ship on the occasion of the ship's visit and exchange in Da Nang.
