Vietnam, Venezuela Friendship Associations to Strengthen Information Exchange

The Vietnam-Venezuela Friendship Association on July 14 had an online working session with the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association to exchange and introduce the associations' members, operation situation as well as the direction in the coming time.
Attending the meeting, from the Vietnamese association, there were its President Nguyen Viet Thao, Vice President Le Duy Truyen, General Secretary Nguyen Thi Thu Giang, who also is deputy head of the Americas Department of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.
The Venezuelan side consists of Carolus Wimmer, head of External Relations of the Communist Party of Venezuela, president of the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association and others leaders of the association.
The Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association was established to strengthen and expand the friendship, solidarity and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Venezuelan people; contribute to consolidating and developing the bilateral comprehensive partnership.
With the support of the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela, Thao had sent a congratulatory letter and expressed his wish to soon promote cooperation between the two sides. In the past time, Thao also attended and presented at two webinars organized by the National Assembly and the Chamber of Commerce of Venezuela to introduce about the situation in Vietnam after the 13th National Party Congress and share Vietnam's development experience.
Moreover, the association has organized a class to teach Vietnamese ethnic dances; opened a photo exhibition of Venezuelans who used to live and work in Vietnam; cooperated with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to develop the political and academic exchanges.
Regarding science and technology, following the resolution of the 13th Party Congress, the association is coordinating with the Venezuelan Ministry of Science and Technology to propagate the 4.0 technology revolution.
The Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association is also working with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to establish the Ho Chi Minh Institute for Political-Social Studies.
One of the important tasks of the association in the coming time is to develop friendship houses in localities. The Venezuelan side also emphasized that the Vietnamese embassy and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics are important partners of the friendship houses.

According to General Secretary Nguyen Thi Thu Giang, the Vietnam-Venezuela Friendship Association focuses on three main contents: solidarity and friendship development; mutual understanding enhance between the two peoples; cooperation promotion between two governments, people and organizations.
The association regularly organizes activities to mark anniversaries and important events of the two countries and makes statements to support Venezuela in special circumstances. The association also cooperated with the Venezuelan Embassy in Hanoi to organize cultural activities and promote Venezuela’s image and accurate information to Vietnamese people.
Thao also highly appreciated the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Institute in Venezuela and emphasized that the association would accompany and participate in the activities of friendship houses.
In the context of Covid-19 still having many complicated developments, leaders of the Vietnam-Venezuela Friendship Association expressed their desire to increase online activities and enhance information exchange between the two sides.
At the end of the meeting, the two friendship associations signed a memorandum of understanding.
Vietnam and Venezuela established diplomatic relations on December 18, 1989, which was upgraded to a comprehensive partnership in 2007.
