Vietnam Welcomed Over 800,000 International Visitors in January

According to the latest report of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, international visitors to Vietnam last month reached over 871,000 arrivals, an increase of 23.2% compared to December 2022.

According to statistics, tourism revenue in January 2023 is estimated at VND 2.2 trillion, an increase of 113.4% over the same period last year. In January 2023, monthly passenger transport is estimated at 341.7 million passengers, experiencing an increase of 11.9% over the previous month and 34.7% over the same period last year.

Monthly freight forwarding is estimated at 202.8 million tons of goods, which increased 5.4% over the previous month and 16.2% over the same period last year.

In 2023, Vietnam's tourism industry sets a goal of welcoming 110 million tourists, of which about 8 million are international visitors, and about 102 million are domestic tourists. Total revenue from tourists is expected to reach about VND 650 trillion.

Currently, international flights and sea travel services operate normally as before the Covid-19 pandemic. Travel agencies are focusing on promoting international tourism.

Travel experts forecast that 2023 will witness strong growth in international travel demand. On January 8, China opened its borders and tourism started to become active. This is a large market, contributing to stabilizing the flow of international tourists and increasing revenue for tourism in Vietnam and the world.

Recently, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have both been included in a list of the safest cities in Southeast Asia, as compiled by the statistics site Numbeo.

The rankings see Hanoi in fifth, while Ho Chi Minh City was in 14th in the region. According to the latest report issued by Numbeo, Hanoi’s safety index stands at 62, ranking 145th worldwide.

According to VOV World, the site defined safety as "safety walking alone in daylight" and "safety walking alone at night". Numbeo specializes in assessing the overall quality of life in cities worldwide, including ranking them on safety. It calls itself the world’s largest database providing rankings in housing, crime, healthcare, traffic, and cost of living in hundreds of cities globally.

Elsewhere, Chiang Mai in Thailand can be considered the safest city in Southeast Asia with 75.5 points, Davao in the Philippines with 72.4 points, and Singapore with 70.8 points.

Globally, Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates took the lead with 88.8 points, followed by Doha in Qatar with 85.5 points, and Taipei in Taiwan China) with 84.9 points.
