Vietnamese air carriers transport relief goods for free to flood-stricken central region

According to a representative of Vietnam Airlines, the above airlines will exempt transport fees, but levy fuel surcharges and fees related to relief goods, VNExpress reported.
Eligible goods for free transport are from Vietnamese Fatherland Front at all levels, provincial and municipal People’s Committees, Vietnam Red Cross at all levels and any other licensed charitable organizations.

Starting October 19, Bamboo Airways will also offer free transportation of relief goods from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh, Dong Hoi, Chu Lai and Da Nang. In addition to organizations and unions, relief goods from businesses and individuals will also be transported for free.

It is noted that relief goods need to be divided into packages with the weight of under 40 kg each.
As of October 18, heavy rains, floods and landslides in central Vietnam have left at least 84 dead and 38 missings, while water levels in the region’s major rivers are swelling up again. Nearly 53,000 houses have been inundated. 11,575 / 35,787 households from Quang Binh to Thua Thien - Hue have been evacuated. |
