Vietnamese Ao Dai Stuns European Audiences
Attending the final round were 23 contestants, who had many impressive performances, featuring the Vietnamese Ao Dai in the heart of the ancient city of Dresden in Eastern Germany.
The contest was organized by the Dresden Women's Club and sponsored by the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe and the Vietnam Association of Culture and Arts in the Czech Republic.

Hundreds of audience from many European countries were present early in the central hall to join the final round of the contest, which was held the second time after the first one in 2018.
The contest was also attended by Vietnamese Ambassadors to Germany, the Czech Republic and Denmark, and leaders of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe as well as many associations, clubs, organizations, and commercial centers of Vietnamese people in European countries.
23 ladies were classified into two age groups: from 35-50 and over 50. They are Vietnamese coming from European countries such as Germany, Czechia, Austria, Netherlands, France, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia…
Opening the final round, contestants had an impressive performance with the Ao Dai on the theme of Peace by designer and artisan Lan Huong (Hanoi). Then, they continued the competition with the compulsory Ao Dai by the Organizing Committee, followed by the Ao Dai and the evening gown of their own choice.

The list of 16 ladies continues the contest will be selected by the Jury and the Council of Ladies. Next, 8 candidates will be decided to enter the on-stage interview to select the winners.
The day before the final round, all contestants accompanied the Organizing Committee to participate in the Ao Dai performance at the monuments and the main square in the famous tourist city of Dresden. Through the performance, the image of a Vietnamese woman with the ao dai has come closer to German and international friends.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh said that the Vietnamese community in Germany is very honored and happy to host the 2nd Mrs. Ao Dai Europe contest. He expressed his appreciation for organizing the contest to show gratitude towards women, connect Vietnamese people across Europe, as well as contribute to preserving and promoting the culture, national identity, and Vietnamese Ao Dai to the world.
According to President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe Hoang Dinh Thang, the overseas Vietnamese community in general and in Europe in particular always promotes the spirit of solidarity, stability, development, and deep integration in the host country and is always attached to the homeland and the country. He emphasized that the Mrs. Ao Dai Europe contest is one of the important activities to contribute to preserving and promoting the national cultural identity to the Vietnamese community in Europe.

The contest is a great success, leaving a deep impression on the attendees. The contest also contributes to encouraging the Vietnamese young generation living abroad to understand and love the national costume, and at the same time, to connect Vietnamese people in Europe with the homeland.
The next Mrs. Ao Dai Europe contest will take place in 2024 in Poland.
