Nguyen Viet Trieu, president of the Mrs. Europe - Ao Dai Vietnam Europe Executive Board and president of the Vietnamese Women’s Union in Poland, noted that “Covid is escalating in Vietnam with thousands of new cases detected every day. We have experienced the peak of Covid in Europe, so we understand the challenges facing the medical staff at the frontline of the fight against Covid.”

“The Mrs. Ao Dai Vietnam Europe Compassion Fund has called for everyone’s support to encourage the doctors and nurses in central hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City who are working tirelessly to save the lives of thousands of Vietnamese in the Covid-19 pandemic,” Trieu added.

“The representative of the Mrs. Ao Dai Vietnam Europe Compassion Fund in Vietnam will give our presents to the medical staff at the hospital and aid them in purchasing equipment as necessary.”

President of the Mrs. Ao Dai Vietnam Europe Compassion Fund Pham Gia Hau said “The Mrs. Europe Committee consists of presidents, vice presidents and other leaders of the Vietnamese women associations and clubs and other individuals who are active and well-recognized in European countries such as Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Hungary and the Netherlands. The Mrs. Ao Dai Vietnam Europe Compassion Fund started its charity activities in 2019 by visiting and giving presents to child patients at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the Viet Duc Hospital and the National Cancer Hospital in Hanoi. We also built Compassion Houses worth VND 60 million in Gia Binh district of Bac Ninh province.”

The Mrs. Ao Dai Vietnam Europe Compassion Fund was established in January 2019 in Dresden, Germany. The fund was initiated by the President of the Vietnam Culture and Art Association in the Czech Republic Pham Gia Hau, the Mrs. Europe Committee and competitors who won prizes at the 2018 Mrs. Ao Dai Vietnam Europe pageant.

“The donations from the Mrs. Ao Dai Vietnam Europe Compassion Fund given to Cho Ray Hospital signifies the encouragement that the fund’s members and the Vietnamese community in Europe would like to give to the medical staff in Ho Chi Minh City, showing Vietnam’s tradition of solidarity and mutual support and the sentiments that overseas Vietnamese in Europe give to the homeland despite living far away,” he added.

President of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Phung Cong Dung expressed his appreciation of the overseas Vietnamese’s support to the fight against Covid in Ho Chi Minh City so that the pandemic could be curbed soon and lives could return to normal.

In September, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs also accepted medical equipment donated by the Vietnamese community in Sacramento, California, for the medical staff from Cho Ray hospital working at the Covid fighting frontline, on behalf of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
