Vietnamese Students in Thailand Host New Year Celebration Ceremony
Attending the event were representatives of Vietnamese youth studying and researching at universities across Thailand, as well as representatives of the Vietnamese Association in Bangkok and surrounding areas, and the Vietnamese Businessmen Association in Bangkok.
At the event, the President of the Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Student Association in Thailand (VSAT), Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep stressed that VSAT is the only student association sponsored by the Vietnam Embassy in Thailand. It is also one of the foreign units directly under the Central Vietnamese Students' Association. After being established six years ago, VSAT has overcome numerous challenges to become one of the strongest and largest international student associations in Thailand.
The outstanding achievements of the student movement and of VSAT's works in the past 3 months included the completion of the document of the Vietnamese Student Congress in Thailand and VSAT Executive Committee in the 3rd course receiving recognition by the Central Vietnam Students' Association in September 2023. VSAT has also completed the membership registration form of the Vietnamese Student Association in Thailand, creating a premise to connect more with international students. This helps contribute to the development of VSAT's increasingly strong basis. In December 2023, VSAT participated in the welcoming ceremony of Vietnam's National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and delivered a policy speech at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
President Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep affirmed that in the coming time, in addition to promoting the "5 Good Students" movement (Good Study, Good Ethics, Good Volunteering, Good Integration and Good Physical), VSAT is also building specific and diverse goals regarding the needs of the international student community in Thailand.
It will make efforts to link and build relationships with businesses to raise funding for organizing consulting and career guidance for students who wish to study in Thailand. The fund will also serve the purpose of organizing volunteer trips to help families in difficult circumstances in Thailand as well as "return to the root" trips. These trips are to visit President Ho Chi Minh's relics in Thailand - to foster revolutionary ideals, love for one's homeland and express gratitude for Uncle Ho, among other activities.
Another key task is to focus on promoting exchange relations with Vietnamese Student Associations in other countries and Provincial Student Associations in Vietnam. VSAT already established a relationship with the Student Association of Dong Nai province, contributing to the exchange of learning experiences to the student movement.

Chulalongkorn University lecturer Do Thuy Ha believed that the ceremony was a very useful event for the student community living and studying away from home. VSAT is like a home connecting people, Ha said, and letting the individuals know that they are not alone. Anyone who needs help with studies or is facing difficulties in life can count on their friends by their side.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Association in Bangkok and surrounding areas, Chairman Do Xuan Phuc congratulated VSAT on their strong development, hoping it will continue to excel in the process of contributing positively to both the homeland and the host country.
Vietnamese students from Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Bangkok University, Assumption University Thailand (ABAC) and other Thai universities attended the event (Photo: TTXVN). |
On this special occasion, Vietnamese students from Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Bangkok University, Assumption University Thailand (ABAC) and other Thai universities also participated in a talk show.
This was their opportunity to learn from lecturers and experts about how to integrate faster in the host country, and how to overcome culture shock. Another highlight of the event is the musical performances to celebrate the upcoming Year of Dragon 2024.
