The four gold medalists at IChO 2022 are Nguyen Viet Phong, a 12^th grader from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City; Tran Duc Minh, a 12^th grader from Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted in Ha Nam province; Phan Xuan Hanh, a 12^th grader from Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted in the province of the same name; and Pham Nguyen Minh Tuan, a 11^th grader from the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences under the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

This is the second time that all Vietnamese members have won the gold medal at the competition, after the first one in 2020.

This year’s IChO drew the participation of 326 students from 84 nations and territories. This is the third year in a row that it has been held online.

The Vietnamese team competed online at the Hanoi National University of Education. The organisation of the competition had been carefully prepared, meeting the requirements of the Organizing Committee of IChO 2022.

Bringing home medals in another international competition for high school students is the Physic team with five members.

IPhO 2022 took place in Switzerland from July 10 to July 17 with the participation of 368 contestants from 75 countries and territories. This is the third year in a row that the contest was held online form. They won three gold, one silver and one bronze medals.

The Vietnamese team ranked fifth at the final ranking, followed by the teams from China, Romania, South Korea, and the United States.

Two other gold medals went to Le Minh Hoang, the 12th grader and Vu Ngo Hoang Duong, the 11th grader of High School for Gifted, Hanoi University of Science.

Vo Hoang Hai (High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University) became the first Vietnamese student to win the International Physics Olympiad Gold Medal when he was only in the 10th grade. Hai also won the bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Physics Olympiad. He has an IELTS score of 8.0, showing not only outstanding science knowledge but also high proficiency in foreign language learning.

The silver and bronze medals went to Nguyen Dang Phuc, the 12th grader of High School for Gifted of Bac Ninh Province and Phung Cong Hieu, the 12th grader from High School for Gifted of Vinh Phuc Province.

In IPhO 2021, Vietnam ranked seventh out of 76, taking hom 3 gold and 2 sliver medals.

Early this month, Vietnam students at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2022 also brought home medals, including two gold, two silvers and two bronzes, finishing 4th out of 104 participating countries and territories. The IMO 2022 was held from July 6 to 16 in Oslo, Norway, with the participation of 657 candidates from 104 countries and territories.
