Apart from the main market of China, local exporters have shipped lychees to the US and Japan. For instance, the Vina T&T company expects to export 50 tons of lychees meeting Global GAP standards to the US this year. Meanwhile, the first batch of Bac Giang lychees arrived in Japan on June 20.
Despite the impacts of Covid-19, Japan is seeking to increase its fruit and vegetable imports from Vietnam such as bananas, dragon fruits, sweet potatoes and lychees.
The Export and Import Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that Vietnamese bananas have become available at the Lotte supermarket system in the Republic of Korea while dragon fruits and lychees are popular in India, according to Dang cong san.

The AgroTrade added that in the coming time, Vietnamese fruit and vegetables exports are expected to enjoy positive growth opportunities.
With the European Union - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) taking effect on August 1, this will offer many valuable opportunities for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports because 94% of tariffs for these products will be eliminated, Vietnam Biz reported.
However, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Toan, Director of the AgroTrade said that the EU is a high-level market, thus, Vietnamese fruit and vegetables should overcome strict technical barriers and standards. Because without standardization, Vietnamese fruit and vegetable products cannot integrate sustainably to the world market.
